Guest guest
Hi, Meri Jane, I love this story! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I remember days like that with Dad when he was so happy with things going on around him that actually weren't happening. As long as he was happy about it, it was okay with me. I remember one night when we were watching the Academy Awards on television. Dad thought the people were actually in our house. Imagine having on Ford in your living room! We had such a great time that night!! Guest guest
Wanted to post a funny story today, seems sometimes we get so caught up in the seriousness of our situation, but Dad can be a crack-up sometimes too. Dad loves strawberry shakes and since I forgot to take him one the day before, took him one on the way home from work last night. He had just finished eating dinner and was still sitting at one of the dining room tables. He was so excited to see me and introduce me to the 4 Russians sitting at the table with him. He just knew I would find it interesting to hear them talk in Russian. Dad decided to introduce me to them and points to me and shouts out loud " daughter " and tells me it is hard to communicate with them. The only person at the table with Dad was another resident named Marty who really doesn't talk much. As you may remember, Dad is blind but has some peripheral vision, so everytime he saw Marty move his hands he thought he was trying to say something. So we had a lovely conversations with the Russians until it was time for me to go and Dad just loved his strawberry shake. So though he was not exactly cognizant of his surroundings some days, it was a very good day anyway yesterday!! I so love having my Dad here near me to enjoy whatever time he has left in this world and boy am I going to miss him one day.
