Guest guest
Tammy, I lost 40 lbs over a year by increasing my fiber (through organic fruits, vegetables, range free chicken and egg whites, some ocean fish, salsa and brown rice) drinking ONLY water, and hitting the pool 6 days a week. It really wasn't a plan, although I used some of the suggestions for 'eating for your blood type' to start. I had the motivation and focus to achieve this goal. I wrote down my goal, and each week wrote down my expectations and 'mini' goal of weight loss. I was only accountable fto myself, which is how I work the best. I have kept the weight off for 2 years, still use a high fiber diet, and am still in the pool, but less time. I don't have 'cravings' for food nor am I 'always hungry' either. And I wasn't at all bored with food or exercise. Nor am I now. Gretchen
Guest guest
Tammy, Don't think this is a joke. Read it. It really worked for me. I've tried every sinble thing you can think of and this has been very effective. I just came from a cruised Sunday and I did it before I left to make sure my husband and kids were proud of me. And me about myself. http://www.fatloss4idiots.com/ Betania
Guest guest
I have recently had some success with eating three small meals and three snacks each day, so I never let myself get hungry. On some days I am more hungry, so I allow myself more calories. I try to stay with three 300 calorie meals and three 100 calorie snacks. I also want to keep this up, so I find strategies to deal with things that come up. If we go out to breakfast, for instance, I have my snack first, then a larger breakfast, then a couple of snacks before dinner. I don't use butter, only olive oil, and I drink a nutritional shake in the morning (powdered greens and fruits and omega 3). I am working with some girlfriends and we share our weights with each other every Monday morning and write encouraging things to help us keep going. I also exercise (elliptical and stationary bike) 3 to 6 days a week. I try to stretch and meditate most days too, but sometimes I am too busy and I don't beat myself up about it. I have lost about 10 pounds over two months. I hope to lose another 30 pounds and keep it off! J. Warren

Guest guest
Hi Tammy, In 2007 I lost ~60 lbs. At the beginning of the year, I just started writing down everything I ate. That helped keep me thinking about what I was putting in my mouth, making my choices more consciously. I also worked to get more exercise in my life. By September, I had lost ~20 lbs, but wanted more. As a diabetic, I wanted to get my numbers down with diet. I was also pretty sure that I was addicted to sugar. So, I went on the South Beach Diet, which has you eat no carbs on Phase 1, for two weeks, which is supposed to reset the way your body handles carbs. Then you get to have limited whole-grain type carbs on Phase 2, for as long as you feel the need to keep losing, and then phase 3, which I kind of skipped. I kept on the diet throught the end of 2007 and lost ~40 lbs - giving me the 60 lb total. In 2008, I gave myself way too many " free " days (days where I ignored the diet - I originally planned to have one day per week to prevent binging from feeling deprived), and did not lose more, but I did not gain more than 5-10 lbs, either. Also, my blood sugar, which had dropped into the " normal " range when I lost the weight, stayed there. Still there is more weight to lose, so three weeks ago I went back on phase one of the diet and lost 10 lbs, before getting a wicked cold last weekend and having to succumb to cough drops with sugar in them. (I cannot eat most artificial sweeteners, especially NutraSweet/Aspartame and Splenda/Sucralose, and even Stevia, making almost all that " sugar free " stuff poison to me. I can eat limited sorbitol, maltitol, xylitol, so Dove Sugar Free chocolates are about my only treat on this diet.) Anyway, I will probably go back to phase one for a week or so once this cold is over, and then get up to Phase 2. I had also started walking 3x/week and using my Pilates machine 3x/week, so once I can walk without coughing up a lung, I'll get back to that, too. That said, I just heard on the news that the true key to weight loss is making sure you burn more calories than you consume. So simple, but definitely not easy! Good luck with whatever plan you choose.

Guest guest
Hello Betania This is indeed an incredible site rich with vast resources, input by several thousand members and a site moderator (Gretchen) who has spent her life devoted to spreading awareness of CMT and studying voraciously on all topics concerning therapies, treatments and the advances in research and development. I strongly suggest you investigate it further. I'm proud to say that I'm a member as well. Mark
Guest guest
Hi, I am a little confused. I believe there is a misunderstanding. Guest guest
CMT expert Dr. Greg has advised persons with CMT to be as slim as possible and recommends following a heart healthy diet, such as one from the American Heart Association. Below are some legitimate links to help in weight loss/weight management, etc. Also see our File folder " Nutrition " for info. ~ Gretchen http://diet.lovetoknow.com/wiki/American_Heart_Association_Diet (scroll past the ads) http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=1200010 http://www.webmd.com/diet/ornish-diet-what-it-is http://www.pmri.org/index.html

Guest guest
I may be suffering from adjectivial arrest, but just so I'm clear, the CMT site is great. My question was regarding the weight loss site cited by Betania. Sorry if there was any confusion.
