Hi,

I was wondering if anyone is on Dilaudid for their CMT,it's a

powerfull narcotic pain pill,it helps me to a point ,if anyone is on

this can I get some feedback please, I started out on the 2mg and then

the 4mg and now im on 8 mg ,I take 8-9 tabs a day.I'm also on Trazadone

at night time for depression,I'm also a diabetic,I'm ready to give up on my

myself.

Can someone please help me as I have a 10 yr old boy who needs his mom as I'm a

single parent and its very difficult to cope with

all this going on.

Thanks

Hi Roxanne,

I took Dilaudid prior to back surgery. At first it minimized the

pain. But, as the days went by, I needed to take more of it to get

the desired relief. My experience was it completely dulled my brain,

and even the most simple tasks were complicated.

Another time in my life, I also took Trazadone. It gave me headaches,

muscle stiffness and slurred speech.

Both medications made me extremely sleepy/drugged - both day and

night. I begged my doctors to discontinue the medications; once

surgery was over, I detoxed on my own from the Dilaudid (plus others

for pain). As for the depression at a difficult time in my life, talk

therapy was much more effective than any medication.

Roxanne,

Wow that is a huge amount of Dilaudid.  Like you said it's a very strong

narcotic.  I take Dilaudid 2 mgs 4 times a day now.  Within the last year I

started at 1 a day then 2, 3 and now 4 I build a tolerance quickly and as much

as it seems to help I can see how it can be abused.  I am parodoxical because it

makes me more energetic and when I don't have it I get out of sorts but if I

took any more then that I get headaches and it actually makes me feel worse.

I can honestly say I like the Ultram CR the best and when I run out I feel it

the most.  The Neurontin seems to be ok with cramping and I must say the

Cymbalta helps with nerve pain and is also an anti-depressant.

I completely understand how hard this disease is I am in a lot of pain and work

a lot of hours and I try hard to be as active as I can be especially having a 9

year old child.  I feel like I am wilting away and trying to suck the the little

life I have in me but I also know it could be worse.  If you need anyone too

talk to privately feel free to conact me. I worked in mental health 9 years and

have my degree in that as well.

Thanks

Andy
