Guest guest
Ron and Imogene, Thanks so much for asking/replying to this topic. This addresses something we have noticed in my MIL since she first started her decline in January. When her shuffling gait appeared (late January, early February), I told my husband I was noticing she was " crooked " - " favoring " the left side (that was also the side that " gave way " when she would fall). Over time, this has become more pronounced to the point that she does not sit up straight, nor can you really lay her straight in bed. It is as though her left side is drawing up. I have even noticed the left side of her mouth seems different to the right side. This has all progressed so rapidly. I am assuming from what you say that this does not get better. She has already given up on trying to move. Seven weeks ago, when she went into the hospital and then from there to the rehab center, she could walk 80 feet; now she can't (won't?) even push the button to raise or lower her hospital bed. When she goes home July 3, she will have to have 24/7 sitters. We still do not have a diagnosis of LBD - still only " dementia. " Do not know - at the rate everything is failing - if we want to put her through the ordeal that it will take to get a more thorough diagnosis. Thanks for answering a(n unspoken) question for me. Ann here have been several times that Don doesn't know me. Or thinks I am somebody else. Last night we were in our recliners, and He lay there looking at mefor a loooong time. I asked why he was looking, he said I want to study your face, because I don't ever want to forget what you look like. This morning he said he doesn't know so many people. I asked who am I? He thought for the longest time, and finally remembered. When does Lewy lean occur? Is it when the person is sitting and leans over when asleep? Don has gotten real bad about leaning while sleeping. He was never that way before. Is that Lewy lean, or is it done all the time. I am going to sleep while typing, so later gators, Love a lot, Imogene
