Guest guest
It is very difficult to find a hotel that is completely safe. We usually stay at Holiday Inn Express when we need to. I always call ahead and tell them I can't be in any room near smoking or an indoor pool. I also ask how new it is, if carpet has been replaced recently, any prior water damage to the room and any near by. I request that no air freshener be used and if possible could a window be opened a few hrs. before we check in.Be up front with them and tell them you are extremely " allergic " to many scents, odors, etc. Allergies they understand toxic they don't. We don't travel frequently, but so far I have been okay. We always open the window/door (if possible) when we arrive. I also helps to speak directly with a manager not just the person at the reservation desk. Hope this helps some. Sue Surella, I think that this is the site you are referring to: _http://www.safertrahttp://www.sahttp_ (http://www.safertraveldirectory.com/) I think this site instituted a section not only for hotels, etc, but if anyone is looking for a long/short term place to live there I think are listings there posted by people looking to rent and those wanting to rent. **************Limited Time Offers: Save big on popular laptops at Dell (http://pr.atwola.com/promoclk/100126575x1221354145x1201369495/aol?redir=http:%2\ F %2Fad.doubleclick.net%2Fclk%3B215221161%3B37268813%3By)
Guest guest
I remember that. Do you know how to do a 'message search' of sickbuldings, found at the group's home page? You probably could find it that way. > > A long time ago I found a website that listed safe non-toxic hotels around the world but I can't find it again. I need to stay in Montreal for a day and would book a safe hotel if there was one. Anybody seen this website? Thanks! Surella >
Guest guest
Surella, I think that this is the site you are referring to: http://www.safertraveldirectory.com/ I think this site instituted a section not only for hotels, etc, but if anyone is looking for a long/short term place to live there I think are listings there posted by people looking to rent and those wanting to rent. There is also this website: http://www.environmentallyfriendlyhotels.com/ A friend of mine has had mixed experiences, mostly okay with the Marriott chain. She says you need to contact the corporate headquarters, that they have an American Disabilities department and take it from there as per your requests. You can also check out the Marriot website or contact them to confirm their policies. The other way is to go through the actual hotel. Contact the manager directly and go through with them what their green policy is and what your needs are. My friend has said more often the stay was okay to good. There was one Marriot that was not up to expectations. In all cases though she brings her air filters and any other items that can keep her safe. I've not done much traveling yet, except to stay with family or friends, so haven't had much personal experience. Of course one big thing to avoid is any hotel that says it is " historic " . That is indeed a watchword for people like us. Hope this is helpful. Sam A long time ago I found a website that listed safe non-toxic hotels around the world but I can't find it again.
