Guest guest
Hello, We have a new family joining us today! Here is what she had to say.. Hello, My name is Solange and I have a beautiful girl with MDS. She is now 13 and has been an absolute joy for all these years. I have done everything in my power to help her achieve all her potential. She has been surrounded by so much love, from her teachers, special educators and classmates to her family. We all adore her because she is an inspiration. She loves unconditionally and is courageous in her every attempt at bettering herself. She doesn't give up! Her early childhood years and pre-teen years have been filled with challenges and many achievements. We are now entering the teenage years where she is showing all the signs that " I'm a teenager now, mom " . It's complete with eye rolling and giving loud sighs when asked to help in the house, typically seen in any teenager, of course. As her mother, I have now reached a new milestone in her life. I find myself apprehensive about how to teach her about who she is. I have been open about it with her siblings but never to her! I just can't bring myself to tell her that she has MDS. I have always felt that she had to be treated just like everyone else and that the only way for her to reach her fullest potential was that she not feel different. I've always explained to her that she learns differently from her classmates and that there is nothing wrong with that. Which is why she goes out of class regularly to learn with her special educator. She has accepted that and doesn't really ask why. She did at one time ask me, in grade 5, why she had to leave her class to go learn, while the rest of the class didn't. I wonder what the future holds for my beautiful child who has been my gift from heaven. She is my youngest child and has 3 older sisters and 1 older brother. She always tells me that she wants to be like me when she grows up and how she has the best mom in the world. I pray that her path will be successful in whatever she wants to do in life and I will do everything I can to make her capable of achieving it. Welcome Solange! Where are you all from?
