Guest guest
Regarding the meds. and your mom thinking you are poisoning her.(I'm assuming this is your mom, because I read " she. " ) My husband does this too at times. I have crushed the pills and put them in pudding or ice cream. Is there something she likes that you can hide the pills in? When that no longer works, I use a syringe.(Looks like a Turkey Baster only way, way smaller) I bought a syringe, like an eye dropper/ear dropper, only a little bigger than an eye dropper with a wider hole in the bottom from the baby section at the pharmacy. I crush and mix the pills with juice or Strawberry Ensure, because he likes strawberry flavor and I suck it up into the syringe and place it into the side of his mouth toward the back and plunge it out into his mouth. With my husband, I can do this while he is sleeping and relaxed. I use the Ensure then, because it is thicker and won't drain down his throat as fast as juice and make him cough. He wakes up enough to swallow it. Note: I am aware that some pills can not be crushed. I do not know your mom's meds. Sinemet and Seroquel can be crushed, I know this for sure if she is on those. Seroquel works crushed on my husband, because he falls asleep almost instantly after taking it, as he does when it's not crushed. It is small enough to take it without crushing, but my husband could always find that little lump in his ice cream and spit it out, so it is crushed along with the other meds he takes. If you don't have a pill crusher you can crush pills between two spoons with pressure, using the back side of one spoon pressing down on the meds in another spoon. Or put the meds. in a zip lock bag and bang on them with a hammer or an ice cream scooper to crush them. Fold a dish towel a few times and use it as a buffer to absorb the banging sound. I can understand your frustration and hope you can find an answer.
