Guest guest
GAP Testifies at U.S. House Hearing for Government Whistleblowers GAP recently testified at a U.S. House of Representatives Government Oversight and Reform Committee hearing, calling for quick action on the 2009 Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act, long-overdue legislation that would provide federal workers who are retaliated again the right to jury trials when they are harassed for blowing the whistle on fraud, waste and abuse. GAP Legal Director Tom Devine testified that supporting jury trials is a “ credibility litmus test for the President’s transparency commitments, including his campaign and transition pledges that they will receive full access to court.†GAP’s testimony also emphasized that the reform “is essential as the integrity foundation for unprecedented spending, and for a commitment that America no longer will abuse human rights at home or abroad. It must be enacted before stimulus spending gets fully underway, to keep it honest.†(http://ent.groundspring.org/EmailNow/pub.php?module=URLTracker & cmd=track & j=2800\ 13867 & u=3059876) _Click here to read the full press release_ (http://ent.groundspring.org/EmailNow/pub.php?module=URLTracker & cmd=track & j=2800\ 13867 & u=3059877) _http://whistleblower.org/doc/2008/TownsHearing09.pdf_ (http://whistleblower.org/doc/2008/TownsHearing09.pdf) (http://ent.groundspring.org/EmailNow/pub.php?module=URLTracker & cmd=track & j=2800\ 13867 & u=3059878) _Click here to read the testimony of GAP Legal Director Tom Devine_ (http://ent.groundspring.org/EmailNow/pub.php?module=URLTracker & cmd=track & j=2800\ 138 67 & u=3059879) _http://whistleblower.org/doc/2008/DevineTowns09.pdf_ (http://whistleblower.org/doc/2008/DevineTowns09.pdf) Sharon Noonan Kramer
