Mucormycosisand zygomycosis are sometimes used synonymously. They indicate you

have a fungal infection caused by a Mucorales fungus mold.

Mucormycosis causing moldsare so common that avoiding exposure is nearly

impossible. Most inhale zygomycosis causing spores routinely without any health

affect.

However, susceptibility to this deadly fungal infection lies in those with

weakened immmune systems, impaired by conditions and disorders such as:

* AIDS

* undernutrition

* metabolic acidosis

* chronic steroid use

* leukemia, lymphoma

* organ transplantation

* poorly controlled diabetes

* deferoxamine ~ treats hemochromatosis

Mucormycosis infection frequently invades the nose, sinuses, eyes, brain or

lungs.

Occasionally, skin, kidney or digestive tracts are besieged.

Symptoms vary based on the mold invasion location of mucormycosis. The range of

symptoms for zygomycosis include:

* fever

* cough

* sinusitis

* seizures

* dyspnea

* side pain

* proptosis

* hemoptysis

* hematemesis

* abdominal pain

* partial paralysis

* eye socket swelling

* dark nasal scabbing

* sinus pain, congestion

* painful, hard skin area ~ may have black center

This eye socket swelling infection can cause destruction of some facial

structures.

Proptosis instigating fungus invades arteries, causing blood clots and tissue

death. This stuff grows out of control in dead tissue.

Mucormycosis is primarily treated with antifungal medication and surgical

removal of

dead or infected tissue. Despite aggressive treatment, many die

because of this infection.

If you have an underlying immune health issue, then seek

immediate medical attention should you experience eye socket swelling,

proptosis or any other combination of symptoms for mucormycosis.
