Guest guest
Anyone know if butyl rubber outdoor caulking will ever outgas completely? I am having new siding put up and the installer used it - so of course I am not able to be in the house. It will be a significant expense to remove it. I did stop them after I got out of the house and recovered enough to call them, so it is not the whole house. I also bought some caulk that is a Chemline no voc caulk that I smelled and could not smell a thing. It is a flexible caulk that ought to be ok for siding outdoors and will perform in severe weather. Of course, the installer either wants me to wait longer to see if the butyl rubber will outgas or wants me to pay for the re-do. Any ideas if it might outgas? It has been a week and still smelled yesterday, a sunny day, and not too much toady, a cloudy day. I am pretty tired of not living in my house, and hope you can give me some feedback. My fear is that it will not ever outgas, but then I can be pretty paranoid. Thanks you in advance,
