Guest guest
We have to share our massive $250.00 'stimulation' with old people?! Why, so they can buy another suburban to park in the handicap parking spaces?! Like that will buy a wheelchair, or scooter. Or get my house cleaned, and lawn mowed, more than twice. Or even begin to pay for an attendant. Or home modifications. But, we're supposed to smile, and be grateful. I'm 'stimulated' to scratch my itch ... with one finger. ;-) > > _http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/mar/26/biden-social-security-payments-to > -begin-in-may-1/_ > (http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/mar/26/biden-social-security-payments-to-b\ egin-in-may-1/) > > > > WASHINGTON (AP) - People who collect Social Security or disability benefits will share $13 billion in federal money, each receiving a one-time, $250 payment beginning in May, Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday. > > > > > >
Guest guest
June here........I am an " old people " and am also a disabled person (CMT1B and Nystagmus).....and I drive a 9 year old Ford Escort (compact). But......... I am grateful for the " stimulus " payment and don't know whether to save for a scooter or my funeral. Or maybe replace a rain gutter that leaks. Decisions, decisions! Anyway, Happy Easter to all. (Maybe I will spend it on some chocolate.) ________________________________ From: augold123 <augold123@...> Sent: Wednesday, April 8, 2009 3:22:40 PM Subject: Re: Social Security or disability benefits will share $13 billion We have to share our massive $250.00 'stimulation' with old people?! Guest guest
You know - I really think that this support group is not a place for voicing such inflammatory comments. The " Old people " you have clumped into one category have worked long and hard for the pittance of social security they collect and are expected to live on. Don't begrudge them the funding...they don't all buy suburbans and use the handicap spaces - most of them are struggling to pay for their medications and put food on the table just like the rest of the world whether handicapped or not. No, $250.00 isn't a great stimulus...but you know what...it beats the heck out of nothing...stop whining and help bring about change in a constructive way, but don't use this group for that purpose unless you want to provide us with ways to assist you in getting things changed for those with physical disabilities. > > > > _http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/mar/26/biden-social-security-payments-to > > -begin-in-may-1/_ > > (http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/mar/26/biden-social-security-payments-to-b\ egin-in-may-1/) > > > > > > > > WASHINGTON (AP) - People who collect Social Security or disability benefits will share $13 billion in federal money, each receiving a one-time, $250 payment beginning in May, Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday. > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Yes, we are all special in our own ways, aren't we? If you believe the $250 gimme is insufficient and beneath you, I suggest you return it to the US Treasury, or perhaps donate it to someone who would appreciate it. While I sympathize with your plight, what about those who qualify on multiple reasons? They will receive only one payment. I mean, how about those receiving SS and also VA disability benefits? They will receive only the one payment although they " qualify " on two bases. Additionally, if the recipient (or the spouse) works, they will qualify for the working credit through reduced witholding and the tax " credit " during the next tax season. The one-time $250 payment received then will offset (to some extent) the credit. I am not sure how this is going to work, but the 2010 tax season does portend to be interesting. > > We have to share our massive $250.00 'stimulation' with old people?!
