I have a friend who has relatives in France and they are not happy with

their health care at all. They are also going to have to begin paying a copay

like we do here. . They also have to wait a long time for tests to be done

unless they can pay for it themselves. Sometimes up to 6 months for an MRI

or mamogram. I was told those that are not sick like it a lot but people

with chronic illnesses have a different story to tell.

From what I understand the same is true in Canada. I know we need health

care for many people in America but they really need to take their time ,

make the right decisions and not make it worse!

I have to correct last sentence I posted earlier: I said French have

government, or private insurance as if I didn't remember which.

More clearly said: French citizens have a choice of government offered

insurance, OR private insurance, and they are ranked number one in health care

right now by the World Health Organization, while the U.S. where health

care is the most expensive is ranked in thirty-something.

Waiting to be seen when you are sick is terrible.

I'm just repeating what I have read recently. People in this country think we

have a wonderful system until they get sick or a loved one gets sick, so perhaps

the same. I wonder if there is a good system anywhere then.

I have private insurance. We pay dearly for it. I was just telling my husband

the other day that we would not have to drive our old clunkers if we did away

with our insurance. We pay approx 400.00 a month. Never the less, I am really

happy with my insurance. At times I am not happy with a few doctors who milk

and take advantage of my insurance BUT, I am happy to have it. I had lots of

health issues, thanks to mold in my life and and injuries I have from a 1992

incident. I don't know what I would done without my insurance.

IMO, I believe we do need health care reform BUT, leave it to where we have the

freedom of choice. Just don't take away our freedom! I want to be able to keep

my insurance. I would like to see more help going to the low cost and free

clinics. Right now our free clinic in my town is not taking on any more

patients due to lack of funds, lack of doctors and nurses.

There needs to be a way to get the nurses, doctors and other health care workers

in the free clinics by way of tax breaks for the time they donate to the cause.

Our health department has cut out many programs due to lack of funding, such as

dental care for the poor.

Anyway, something needs to be done about health care for those without insurance

but we need to be able to keep our freedom of choice.
