Guest guest
My state started inspecting rentals randomly a few years ago and I guess they picked mine to inspect. I have no problems here other than getting laundry dryer exhaust. Don't think that is a violation. But it is good to hear this is finally being done to protect renters. I might have to give them a few places to check out where I had mold previously. It is at the end of the month so I will update then. Guest guest
, An increasing number of states and municipalities have begun adopting the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC). In addition to identifying certain conditions as violations it specifies which are the responsibility of the occupant and which are the responsibility of the owner. If IPMC (or modifications of it) are adopted then those provisions are enforceable. This is (perhaps) the beginning of what many of us have been needing -- enforcement of correction of unhealthy living conditions. More information from the Website of the National Center for Healthy Housing at: http://www.healthyhomestraining.org/Codes/IPMC.htm There's a draft of one of their proposals at: http://www.healthyhomestraining.org/Codes/Healthy_Homes_Cod es_6-26-08.pdf I hope some of us will learn more about this promising direction and begin activities to convince local authorities to adopt the IPMC. Guest guest
In our case CE cam, saw a sign that read " please help people dying from toxic mold " they took down the sign and started harrassing us, not for the mold or conditions, for the revenue it would bring them. They did not care about the living conditions or anyone who might be dying there, neither did the city council or the mayor who sent the police to tell us to stop writing letters she had no time for people like us. (It was a threat) or else......... God Bless !! dragonflymcs Mayleen ________________________________ From: Carl E. Guest guest
I understand, Mayleen. There's bad code enforcement like there's bad cops and bad teachers and bad lawyers. But I'd rather have the tool available than not have it at all. Also, there is much conversation here and on other groups that nobody does anything. Well, some people are and some agencies are creating new tools. Let's keep using all which are available until the good guys outnumber the bad guys.
