Guest guest
I was hoping someone out there has had some experience. My husband, 79, has late-onset CMT [probably 1 but with negative gene test] and was very ill in January: hospital 3 weeks, nursing home 4 weeks. He is being fed through a stomach tube. Before he got sick he was eating regularly. Now he can't even swallow his saliva without coughing. He had an MRI, which ruled out a stroke, so it's probably CMT related. Has anyone else had a sudden change like this? Can he get it back? Elinor
Guest guest
I also have swallowing problems and wear a nitroglycerine patch that helps my esophagus from spasming.
Guest guest
Hi Elinor, That did happen to my sister at the age of 56. She had a trach, to remove the saliva. This just came to me... does he have a favorite type of music? Music seems to help with anxiety... which goes along with those symptoms. I hope your husband gets well soon!
