You had me smiling for a long while---and I > thought only my family talked like this to each other------ Nope - you are not alone in this. When I was very little my mother worried that the teasing I got from my father would bother me and harm my emotional development. She told him to quit. Well, about 3 days of no teasing and I went to mom and asked, " doesn't daddy love me anymore? " She asked my why I thought that and I said, " because he hasn't been teasing me. " I think family teasing - as long as it is meant in good spirits - can be a healthy way to teach kids how to be quick witted and to deal with not-so-nice teasing from other kids. It's a safe environment to learn to handle the inevitable teasing and it teaches kids that they don't have to feel hurt by words. -Barb
