TALLAHASSEE—In preparation for the July 1, 2010 implementation date for the

state licensure and regulation of mold and home inspectors, the Department of

Business and Professional Regulation has scheduled statewide stakeholder

meetings to facilitate discussion and obtain industry feedback. In 2007,

Governor Charlie Crist signed Senate Bill 2234, which included provisions for

state licensure and regulation of individuals offering mold-related services and

home inspectors.

The meetings will focus on the requirements in the new law and how the

department will license and regulate individuals offering mold-related services

and home inspectors. Topics will include grandfathering provisions,

requirements for criminal history background checks and licensure examinations.

The department has established Web sites for home inspectors and mold-related

services, where stakeholders can find more information about the law and

upcoming meetings.
