Hi ,

I am so delighted for you, if I could jump I would be jumping the world

record on your behalf. What a relief it is. As I know from last month

when Ann and I got our Disability Living allowance. It makes life so

much easier in that you can now afford to get the assistive devices

needed. Do you get yours backdated to the day of application? We did

and I have been looking at cars today and am quite excited. Who knows I

may have a car I can drive easily within the next 2 - 3 weeks.

I raise my cup of decaffinated tea to you. Congratulations, it is so

much easier that you did not have to appeal and go through the stress of

the process.

Love and Huge HUGS,

Lilian

My mom's medicaid was approved today - YAY! That means she can go out for

visits or to get an ice cream, or whatever; this will THRILL her no end.

Heck, it thrills ME no end! :)

I'm going to start small, with an ice cream cone outing this evening. Then

maybe a ramble around a Dollar Store later this weekend, since shopping has

always been important to her...I can give her a $10 bill or something. But

I'm planning on the first few outings to be short. I know she'll want to go

past her house; I have the $4/gallon for gas and it's too far away (30

miles) excuse, but is one of the reasons I want to keep visits short - " I

wish I had more time, mom... "

But I am so happy and excited, it's almost as if *I* were the one just

handed the keys - lol! I'm celebrating and looking forward to seeing her

this evening, she hasn't had an ice cream cone from the Custard Cup yet and

it's the best ice cream (well, frozen custard) in town!!

This morning she had her piano tuned, Pete went there to pay the man, and

she was right there, beaming and happy and excited - and they tell me that

normally mornings are her worst times! But these meds, and also I think her

on the road to acceptance of her life there, are really turning the tables.

And now that she can go on outings, that will help as well. ( did

warn me that, once gets out the doors and her new security is gone,

she may not have an easy time of it at first.) I'm SO much hoping that she

can learn to enjoy her life while she's able, in spite of her illness and

living arrangements...

Sherry ('s daughter)

Sherry it is wonderful to hear you sounding so excited for your mom. It shows

the level of

care, love and commitment you have for her.
