I am 38 with x-linked CMT. I have aunts, cousins, a brother and mother with the

diability. Within our family the level of severity varies. The females seem to

to be less affected than the males. I believe this due to fact that it is

x-linked. I have a young daughter that I hope, given the family trend, does not

develop severe problems.

My brother probably has the greatest limitations and due to ankle injuries has

relied on the use of wheelchair for mobility. He has, with the help of a

physical therapist, rehabilitated a great deal from his injuries.

I am getting to the point where I need some sort of ankle support. I have

orthotics that are quite cumbersome and ace wraps don't quite do it. Any

suggestions on brands or styles would be helpful. I have not yet perused the

archives but will shortly.

The primary reason for the post, in addittion to the introduction is to say

thank you. The information and support from others with the same issues I have

is a valuable resource to me.
