Guest guest
Dear List, I just saw this article today on Dr. Mercola's website. Has anyone ever tried this? Does anyone think that this might help those of us dealing with mold exposure? Other thoughts are that; perhaps it might be an interim step towards other more effective protocols ie. Shoemaker, Leiberman, Gray, 10P, etc. or a support for the same? Mercola Article: " http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/05/26/Powerful-Breakthr\ ough-Beats-Cancer-and-AutoImmune-Diseases.aspx " Googled this website for LDN: " http://www.low dose naltrexone.org/ " The claims on this site are that in these low doses, that so far there are no side effects. I think there are some studies being started. One at Penn. State. Sam
Guest guest
Sorry to hear about your struggles Sharon. I'm just thinking out loud and take it with a big dose of salt as I'm no authority. But would your pain be less if you were to very slowly wean off the meds rather than just stopping? I had read something too about if you get wired or over energized from the LDN that you need to lower the dose. I'm sure you've already thought of this, but in the event you hadn't wanted to share. When you were speaking of hormonal are you talking of thyroid or something else? I'd read that it can have a positive effect on relieving hashimotos and because of that it is recommended that if you have hashi's that you should start with the lowest dose and keep track of your thyroid levels as your thyroid meds can wind up being too much as you improve. It is listed as number 2 under the " side effects " section towards the bottom of the home page. I wonder that if you have low thyroid function that this might be what was happening? " http://www.low dose naltrexone.org/ " Again, I'm no expert and am just thinking out loud and wishing you well. God bless, Sam I have a prescription for LDN and I tried it. It's a opiate antagonist and because of that and the fact that it made me want to climb out of my skin I stopped taking it. The pain on one day after going off my pain meds was unbearable so I went back to my pain meds and skipped the LDN.
Guest guest
Thanks , I'm glad to hear this has helped you. Do you get the pure LDN or pills that are crushed to powder? I'd also read that the lactose filler is recommended, but have serious lactose intolerance, so I can't do that. Do you know anything about why lactose might be preferable as a binder as opposed to the hypoallergenic cellulose? Sam yes, I take LDN, I got RA from my last moldy apt, but boosting the immune system with no side effects is problably a good idea for all of us, as long as you are not taking serious pain meds or dependent on alcohol. Getting the dose right can be trickey. I took 3mg for 4 months with no effect, uped to 4.5mg and noticed the difference the first night.
