Guest guest
Is there a good test to check for b12 deficiency? I take a b12 nasal spray but often wonder if I need more and in another form as my neuropathy is horrible since mold exposure... Guest guest
Jill, Your doctor can test b12 in blood test. The neurologist I went to tested it and a family doctor I go to tested it once. For me, my levels were goood but for neuropathy is supposed to be important so I try to take some on days I don't eat very well. Nasal b12 sounds interesting. Is the nasal b12 you take a Rx or over the counter? My doctor gave me a rx drug called Metanx. I don't recommend rx vitamins as the pharm industry is trying to pass legislation to limit people from buying vitamins over the counter. I took one rx fill of Metanx though so I can compare to over the counter vitamins but I don't notice any difference. It has B12, folate, and B6. These are all supposed to be important for neuropathy. > > Is there a good test to check for b12 deficiency? Guest guest
--- Jill: They test your B12 level with a simple blood test, should get the results in just a couple of days. Guest guest
Jill, I'm new to B12 as we just started giving my daughter methyl B12 shots, working with a DAN doctor. She isn't on the spectrum but has major sleep and behavior reactions to foods and we have environmental illness on both sides of the family. Anyway, from what I understand there isn't an easy way to test for B12 deficiency, because people who see improvement in their symptoms with methyl B12 shots often have tested high-normal to high. I thought this link was helpful-- http://www.drneubrander.com/Files/Methyl-B12;%20Myth,%20Masterpiece,%20or%20Mira\ cle.doc Amy
