Guest guest
On Tuesday, April 04, 2000 at 8:10 AM or thereabouts, TYPE4FOOD@... wrote the following about (no subject): TYPE4FOOD> I need a little help. I've never had to do this before. I TYPE4FOOD> am sending a resume to a doctor and along with it he wants TYPE4FOOD> a " handwritten cover letter " . What should the cover letter TYPE4FOOD> consists of???? Thanks Well, if he specifies " handwritten, " then I guess I'd give him just that (though I find it somewhat unusual, he probably wants to see how legible your writing is (is this for an in-office MT/secretarial position of some kind?) ... either that or he fancies himself a handwriting analyst :-) Cover letters are really pretty simple ... perhaps someone can point you to a sample, but I've always felt it's best to just write one without a specific template and let your style show through ... that's who he's hiring after all. Basically, the body should cover [paragraph 1] the fact that the resume is enclosed, a reminder of why you're sending it (i.e., what position you're applying for), [paragraph 2] and then also point out what you feel is your strongest selling point (or skills), and how you feel that would match his needs (if you know that much about what he/she is looking for). Then, [paragraph 3] a closing paragraph thanking them for the opportunity, and how you're looking forward to the opportunity to discuss it further. (as though it's a given) So, just two or three short paragraphs, four at the most ... you're just identifying the resume and pointing out your strongest point(s); the resume, hopefully, will sell the rest. Guest guest
, I couldn't agree with you more. Life is a state of mind. We must look on the bright side if we are to survive in this world. Whenever I get down about my son's disease, I think about the little children with brain cancer and worse. Guest guest
Thanks very much . Hope you're having a good Thanksgiving. Just a normal week and weekend here in Canada, but, I did watch the all-day Columbo marathon on A & E yesterday, and the Macy's Parade on NBC earlier in the day : ) Pierre (no subject) > Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans!
