Hi

I have been recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Was in hiking accident 2 years

ago and symptoms started soon after. Anyway, I have been on guaifenesin for 1

week now and am seeing some improvements already. Also, my doctor says I have

low thyroid and started me on medications about month ago.

I purchased ph ion test strips from ebay. After 3 days of testing saliva and

urine my ph is averaging around 5.75. I have been staying off of all sodas,

acidic fruits and am taking tums about 5 times during day. How long before I

should see ph going up? Should I try alkalizing agent. If so, where is good

place to get it? I see ph ion offering a bottle for around $29.00.

Re: Re: FibroFix

Hmm very intresting fruit makes things worse with FM? Could you please tell me a

little more about this as I am also a big fruit and vegtable person or can you

let me know about a site that explains more about this topic

Thanks

Kathy

a real shocker; I've always been told to get more fruits (and vegs) into my diet

and have made progress in this - now I know why my FM just was diagnosed and why

it just recently got so much worse!

Pigging out on strawberries was what my family considered to be a " healthy "

habit. And I never failed to put dried Craisins on my salads. Blending out fruit

smoothies on a daily basis was a habit just taken up as well.

Oddly enough, I was on generic Paroxetine for quite some time after one of my

surgeries. The name brand stuff worked but when they switched me to generic it

seemed like things changed. And now this site tells me about this . . . so is

validating what my own experiences have been.

I am thankful . . . yet saddened to think that so much of what is supposed to be

" healthful " works against FM.

Hi, .

Glad to help.

We don't average urine and saliva.

Just test Saliva. 7.4 is ideal

Glad you are cutting out the acidy foods. Even raisins, cranberries and grapes

can be

terrible for Overly Acidic Fibros. NO TOMATOES in any form, either.

Eating more alkali foods helps. Anything green is alkali. Brocolli, salad, etc.

There's a short list of some food examples that are more alkali than others.

For a long time I used TUMS to alkalize. Now my compounding pharmacist makes up

some

alkali liquid for me. I put in in my drinking water to bring it up to 7.4, so

it doesn't cause any more

problems.

Have heard some people use baking soda, but don't know if that's good or not.

Some use proton pump inhibitor meds to lower stomach acid, but we don't really

have a stomach acid problem.

We have a ( " saliva, lymph, etc.) acid problem.

Check your tap and bottle water for pH using the same strip test.

Also, are you taking any supplements that are acid? Vitamin C is a common

culprit.

We use Guaifenesin with a decongestant.

You can print off anything you want from the FibroFix site to keep handy.

Please feel free to call or email any time.

Annie

Anne,

How do you monitor your saliva pH? Something that I have to do with the

doctor/lab?

Very simple and very inexpensive. Do it yourself. We use pH test strip paper

on a

roll dispenser from local health food / vitamin stores. Call around because not

everyone

carries it. Some think it's only for testing urine pH.

15 ft of test paper will do about 300 tests - enough to last you forever if you

tear off just a little piece

each time.

Looks like a little dressmaker's tape dispenser. Just tear off a piece of the

paper - any size. Wet

with saliva. (just slobber on it!). (smile)

The paper will turn color quickly, but it will stay that way. Compare it to the

color chart

on the side of the package. There will be a number for each color. That number

is

your saliva pH. Numbers below 7.4 are acidy. Not many people have numbers above

7.4.

90% of the hundreds and hundreds of Fibros we have helped over the past 7 years

are the

Overly Acidic version. Me, too. A few are the Thyroid / Temperature version, a

few have been Overly Alkali (usually only

if they are diabetic), and some have been Physical Damage to Liver (often rear

end car accident).

This is not just telling you about saliva, but all the clear fluids in the body,

as they are all part of the

Serous Fluids - what you think of as lymph.

Feel free to call me any time - that's my personal cell phone number on the

front of the FibroFix site. If you are in the USA and

want to talk to me by phone and don't want to pay for the call, that's fine.

Just let me know and I'll call from my cell phone.

We want everyone to get this free help who wants it.

Nope. I think those are for ketone. Similar method, though.
