With Regard to Toe-Offs and Helios, I have had two pairs of Toe offs

and loved them...the first cracked after a year, the second after a few months,

but I went ahead and used them for a while. There have been a few discussions

about SAFOs and they are in the archives....I have relatively mild (moderate?)

foot drop/ankle instability (ie can get away with my Crocs and no AFOs to go to

the deli, beach, etc.

I've been looking seriously at them -- they are expensive but not quite as much

as the Helios sound -- and talking to several people w/CMT and orthotists (a few

here who go to England to train) they sound like they have excellent potential

for us with relatively mild signs... quotes, by the way, for two were around

$4-6,000 and the insurances don't yet have a code for them so it seems some

insurances will pay but not all...and after the fact.

Intermittently, I have also been using the very inexpensive soft Freedom foot

drop brace by Alimed , which I love because it's less bulky and works great for

days of slightly less activity or dressy occasions. If you perhaps have

relatively mild foot drop, I would suggest looking into these. These are all

suggestions I

got on this -- thanks for all the sharing.

Good Luck

Sue
