Guest guest
I watched the video yesterday and although, I was aware of most of the information he provided, I found his 'outlook' blunt but accurate. I, too, believe after a short time, the medicines prescribed only work temporary. I did not know about the PM medicine. I use it nightly to induce sleep. I am glad I did not give Mom any while I was with her. She had no problem with sleeping anyway. She had lost about twenty pounds during the last couple of years. Since she has been at the LPCF, she has gained weight, which is good. Their daily schedule revolves @ 'mealtime.' Constipation was always a problem. I, too, have pondered that her days be numbered, so that she would not suffer and be humiliated by DLB. I have not seen her ( a month today), but pray she is mingling with other residents. The socialization that is available to her, in the unit, is the most valuable aspect of her care. My mom was a 'social-butterfly'and interacting with others (like her) has to be helpful to her. I wish I could get in my car and drive the 650 miles 'just' to have another day with her. Anyone who is close to their relative, count their blessings, b/c not being able to see or talk to her brings constant emotional turmoil. I feel like I have lost my best friend and anchor in life.
