Guest guest
It's building relationships and learning the ropes. Without that we are just flailing away. Good points, Angel. Carl Grimes Healthy Habitats LLC ----- Barb: Did you READ my note? If you are politically active then you KNOW that unless support is there, no one who will spend time to draft one etc. I am also VERY politically active and can claim to be personal friends with some in DC. So I know the 'games' shall we say work. Writing to a congressional rep gets a 'generic " thanks for your opinion. Why do I want a copy? Simple, I need letters to help get Harry to want to address adding this to the health care bill now that it's in the hands of the Senate. Have you gotten this far to have someone consdering getting anything addressed? Apparently not since this is the first time you are mentioning that you are 'active in politics'. You are semi-correct in reference to their party/area. A bill amendment starts in an area and has to gain support to move forward. My friend was one of the first co-sponsors of the SNIFF bill years ago in the House and it died in sub-committee becasue people did nto contact their local reps to garner support for it. I am also the big " D " but I know that there are the " R " who want to 'save' $ etc., and they have to be catered to while getting the agenda to be viable/addressed. So, if you are under the 'conviction' that it is only straight party that is your perogative, but, the 'wording' is what gets things done as you very well know. " Nuff said " Angel [] Re: WARNING..on the warpath To Couldcareless, You shouldn't assume people are not writing their Congress people because you didn't get a copy. I have been sending emails to elected officials for at least a year with only automated responses in return. I didn't feel like I had to announce my actions because truthfully I don't think anyone really cares about sending emails to politicians BECAUSE they just don't seem to have any effect! Guest guest
, This is very sad and a very serious subject. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I laughed harder with every paragraph I read. " Dufus " is the word that comes to my mind. What a great start for info on a website. I think we should call it " Thank You For Sharing " . lol These are some I have in my files: _http://katysexposure.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/support-letters-for-hearin g-on-mold-illnesses-and-industry-influence.pdf_ (http://katysexposure.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/support-letters-for-hearing-on\ -mold-illnesses-and-indu stry-influence.pdf) _Congressman Henry Waxman Ignoring The Pleas Of Thousands To Investigate_ (http://www.blip.tv/file/1179464/) I even have one from Kathleen Sebilius complementing me on my knowledge...and thanking me for sharing. I have a couple from Boxer's office with typos...and thanking me for sharing. And...I just received permission from KATU News to put this Video out on the web. It is regarding ACAAI Gold Headed Cane Award Recipient, Emil Bardana, for his integrity that young allergists should immulate. _http://www.blip.tv/file/2830582/_ (http://www.blip.tv/file/2830582/) " In November of 2009, the American College of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology ( " ACAAI " ) recognized Dr. Emil Bardana for his contributions as an influential leader among the " non-profit " trade associations of America's allergists. ACAAI presented Dr. Bardana with the Gold Headed Cane Award for his contributions stating that he is an " allergist who has demonstrated the highest standards of scientific excellence and integrity while serving as a Fellow of the College for at least 20 years. [The Gold Headed Cane Award] is designed to serve as an inspiration to younger doctors and encourage them in their family, social, civil, religious and professional lives. " ~~~~When describing Dr. Bardana's accomplishments and activities over the years, the ACAAI failed to disclose that Dr. Bardana is a prolific expert witness for the defense of the insurance industry in toxic torts.~~~~~ As evidenced in the above video, along with being recognized among his peers and Merck Pharmaceutical as an influential leader of United States allergists; Dr. Bardana is also publicly recognized for his unique methods of " Independent " Medical Examinations on behalf of insurers of workers who claim injury from environmental exposures in their workplace. So when I called his office they were rude so I asked them to send my letter packet back to me because I spent a lot of money making copies, etc. At the time I was doing a lawsuit by myself. So his office sent it back, and it was stamped with the time and date they received it. I also have letters either on my computer I received from my senators and I have about four letters right here from several Senator's offices. Several letters say thank you for letting me know your concerns of Chinese products entering our country. I was not talking about Chinese products when I contacted them. Senator Biden wrote that one. He goes on and on about how some of the food we import may not meet US safety standards. Congressman Castle ® also wrote: Knowing of your concerns with recent recalls on products imported from China, I am writing you on this important issue. Again I wasn't concerned about China. One letter from Senator Carper when I wrote that they have no help with people that get ill from indoor mold and have problems with fragrance. He wrote: Thank you for contacting my office regarding assistance purchasing a mold and fragrance free home. I would like to help with this. However, I am unaware of any federal assistance for your situation. bla bla bla And another one from Joe Biden: Thank you for sharing your concerns with me about the safety of our products. I appreciate your taking the time to contact me on this important matter. It goes on to say The FDA is responsible for making sure these food supplies are safe and uncontaminated, but the FDA's budget does not reflect this responsibility. Guest guest
I have found that you usually can talk to you local senators, legislator's office, but when you call someone from another state they don't take your name, or send a response. I called Senator Kennedy's office several times and Henry Waxman but they mainly just listen, they but never send a letter other than the people in their own state. --- In , Frohna <vafrohna@...>
Guest guest
Couldcareless2, Yes, I did read your note and please don't imply I am liar in your email. I said I was active in politics and you said you doubt it. That is so rude. I have not posted anything to the group about politics because I have NOT been politically active on *mold issues*, but there are other issues to care about. I can't do as much as I used to though since 2005 when I got sick, have had house repairs, moved twice and through it, keep my job. I will participate if group does a writing campaign by writing to my senators, Mitch McConnell and Jim Bunning. I doubt it will do any good. If I could get the ear of either of them, then their constituency here will not care about this at all. The population here are horses, cows and Rush Limbaugh fans, their contributors are big business strictly. I don't think this is a good time to try. The Senate and Congress have enough to do to get everyone covered by insurance and find out how to pay for it, and get that passed is a huge job, so I think it will fall on deaf ears. I'm not trying to throw cold water on it. I just think that mold and toxic illness and the issues surrounding it it are so complicated that I feel it would need more attention than we could get now, to get anything accomplished, and there is no reason this has to be included in this huge bill, just might make it harder to pass. > > Barb: > > Did you READ my note? Guest guest
In the middle of the desert here, I am the only person within 20miles who does not believe they should stock up on ammo to keep Obama's forces from taking them to death camps. Even though most get Medicare and medicaid, the idea of socialized medicine has them up in arms. What I suggest is embrace those people who think Fox news is news. Become their friend, because to quote an NPR segment, " When people become friends, all the rules change " Become the face of health care reform for your out on the right friends, explain your illness and its political implications, but only one word a week. One of my neighbors now goes straight to our state senator for info instead of NRA news bulletins. I consider this a personal victory. They also all know about mold , and give my name to people they think are afflicted. > > I agree with everything you said, as always. But I have a suggested addition to your action plan. What I do, is forward all the " PRO-PLAN " emails, and petitions, which I get from many organizations, to my Conservative relatives, in the hope that they will understand the truth, and tell THEIR congressman and senator, to vote for the plan. There are millions of Americans who believe everything that they see on " Fox News " , and they are all waiting, behind their High-Security doors, with their shotguns, for " Obama's Gestapo " to break down the door and drag them away to concentration camps for brainwashing and mind-reprogramming. Guest guest
I think the people that can write do so-- and the people that can't that is ok. Many have had to deal with this illness all alone and I can't imagine moving or doing any of this alone. Wondering how your foot is Barb. But I do think this is an important time just as any time to try to get something done on the indoor mold issue. I see more and more every day on the chemical issue. I think that having health care is so important, but it won't help if I have to pay 700 or 800.00 or what ever the insurance will be when they finally come up with a plan. We need our money for safe housing and living expenses, along with help with our health. It doesn't do us much good to have insurance if there aren't many doctors that know what to do. I have a sister with breast cancer and my family is bugging me to get a mammogram, but I have not received any help with my candida and all my other issues so why would I want to put my self in more panic if something was on a mammogram. I don't think I would get chemo. So I think it is a very important time to get this done. I am on board. I just don't have good equipment or I don't drive. Just my thoughts. lol > > Couldcareless2, Yes, I did read your note and please don't imply I am liar in your email. I said I was active in politics and you said you doubt it. That is so rude.
