Guest guest
Hi Mike My family has gone through the exact same issues you are dealing with, and we're still just coming out of it 8 months later. You might want to join the " moldthesverereactor " group as it sounds like you fall into the same category I do. Some people are acutely sensitive to mycotoxins (the toxins from black molds) once they are sensitized. There seems to be a genetic predisposition to this as well. Anyway - the most important thing for you to know is that clothes cross contaminate other things, including washers and dryers, the fastest. We also learned the hard way, losing our home, living in a hotel, contaminating friends homes whom I still, to this day, can't see as they continued to use their washers and then their clothes and they became contaminated for me. We bought a hand machine at The Laundry Alternative online (it's not ideal but the only option at this point) that we're still using for a few new clothes we got. We first had to get rid of ABSOLUTELY EVERY SINGLE THING we owned that was from the house though. Everything - down to our drivers licenses, etc. And for us, this wasn't even a direct contamination of our house but a cross contamination. The thing is, when you're that sensitive, the tiniest amount spreads and can ruin your life. You're dealing with a lot more. There is a protocol that someone with severe sensitivities posted online that we followed. Can anyone direct him to that? We did it - got rid of our cars, shaved my husbands beard, swam in chlorine pools at the hotel for weeks, switched rooms, and when we moved into a new rental, we started fresh with all new things again. Yes, it's financially devastating. But if you deal with this now, you save in the long run. I had actually gone thru this years back and ended up carrying my stuff around for years...I ended up with chronic MCS (which it sounds like you have) and mold sensitivities that led to this next crises. So take the hit, ask people for help, and get rid of everything. One tiny thing, or using the same washing machine that had the old stuff in it, or sitting in a car that was contaminated, all of that will keep the problem going. At the same time, find out what you can about Dr Shoemakers protocol and find a doc who can prescribe CSM (cholestyramine) for you and a nasal spray with ketokonazale. Both of those helped tremendously. If you want to backchannel me, I have another top mold doc's protocol I can email you -- he passed away but it has helped us, NFI. And if you don't know about MCS - look that up - Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. One mistake we also made was using the ammonia...it ruined all our new clothes and the new washer we were using. We can't afford to get yet another washer, hence hand washing everything right now. Not easy with a baby. This is the hardest thing your family will go thru - but you are not alone and you can learn from others paths...and you will get through it. Mold toxins cause a lot of very real depression (affect the limbic system) -- watch for that and know, this too shall pass. Take tons of Vit C and just get away from it all. Not one thing is worth saving compared to your health. Put it in a storage unit if you want, then when you're better, you can decide if it's contaminated. And the house - fix it and sell it but you'll not be able to tolerate it again unless there's a permanent cure for people with this severe sensitivity.
