OUR PHARMACIST WATCHES OUT FOR ANDREW TO MAKE SURE THAT ANY NEW MEDS ARE NOT CONTRAINDICATED. THEY REFER TO THE CMTA LIST OF MEDICATIONS TO BE WARY OF...I CAN CALL THEM AT ANY TIME FOR DOSAGE ADVICE OR ANY OTHER QUESTIONS I MAY HAVE ABOUT SIDE AFFECTS ETC. THEY ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE TOTAL MEDICAL TEAM. >
Guest guest
<Do you have prescription medication insurance under a Medicare plan?> I will be shortly. I’ve been researching plans. For anyone interested in researching Part D RX options, there is a drug cost feature on www.medicare.gov, where you can enter all of your prescriptions and it will tell you the best RX plan for you. It will also tell you what plans are available in your area and allow you to compare side-by-side. There is also an informational section for RX assistance programs to help with gap coverage. <Do you have an HMO prescription plan?> HMO plans that are facility-based, i.e. Kaiser, have their own ‘in-house’ plans. All others types of HMOs use the same types of retail pharmacy plans that PPO plans use. If someone has an ‘HMO prescription plan’ and is commenting on satisfaction with the plan, it would be helpful to know if it’s a facility-based HMO plan or not. <Do you research the medications you take, before taking them, or after?>  Before and after. I find it’s easy to forget the potential side effects. <Does your pharmacist cross-check a new medication with one you already take, for interactions?>  All major retail chains do cross-check new medications with existing prescriptions for potential interactions, which is why it’s a good idea to keep all prescriptions with one pharmacy. Many insurance companies will cross-check all RXs at all pharmacies for interactions, but not all do this. If someone is in a skilled nursing facility or a hospital or if you use multiple pharmacies, you can manually check for interactions yourself online at sites like www.drugstore.com. <Does your pharmacist cross check your medications with the supplements/ vitamins you take?> No, they just check RXs. I could give them my supplement list to check & they would do it, or I can just check it myself online.
Guest guest
For a while, I tried the mail order prescriptions, and did get a larger, cheaper rate. BUT...every 3 moths when it was time to re-order, I would get what they " said " was the same medicine, but it would be different in shape, size, & color from what I had received in the previous shipment. They said it was because of different manufacturers, but I just decided to go back to the regular pharmacy around the corner so I would know for sure what the heck it was I was taking. It was a better deal $$$$ wise, but a guessing game as to what in the world kind of pill they were sending me. Donna in Indy

I'LL CHECK THE CMTA LIST AND MAYBE READ THE INSERT, BUT THAT'S ABOUT IT.
