Bonnie,

Yes. What goes around does indeed come around. I don't know if you read

the link to Jim Rainey's writing about Heimpel's and 's

" investigative journalism " . It is a pretty powerful writing of how people with a

political agenda and the capability to publish under the guise of news can

adversely impact society in a big way.

It concerns me that we have a whole generation of young journalists who

came of age under the 8 years of the Bush administration. I honestly think

that a lot of them do not understand the difference between journalism and

marketing. They think it is okay to write purported news articles that are

really just their opinion of the truth where they intentionally leave out

facts or spin facts.. They don't seem to understand where the line is drawn

in the sand between news and one sided opinion for the purpose of marketing

a concept. We have all witnessed this for years over this issue.

But I am concerned it is only getting worse as market shares and profits

for newspapers fall while social media marketing is a rapidly growing, very

slick field. The really scary thing about the Heimpel/ situation is

that this type of irresponsible journalism appears to be being rewarded.

Heimpel was named political investigative reporter of the year, 2008, by

the LA Press Club for his shoddy writing regarding LA's Mayor. Excuse me,

but I was Heimpel's first venture into political writing under Jill 's

guidance. I am definitely intending to inform the press club, complete

with documentation of the real quality of Heimpel's political writing in

2008. This kind of stuff should not be tolerated by the journalist community,

and certainly not encouraged.
