Guest guest
I had an issue several years ago with a supposed " DAN! " doc who completely mis-diagnosed my son, didn't even recommend the diet or supplements, and basically steered us down the wrong path for his entire 3rd year of life. (I'd give my right arm to have that year back!) We wrote the doctor a letter saying that if we didn't have to put all of our time, money and effort into treating the diagnosis that she actively had us ignore for most of a year, we would be suing her for malpractice. I copied Dr. Rimland on the letter, including sending a cover note that " not all DAN! doctors are created equal " , but I never heard anything back. There is a disclaimer on the website about ARI not ensuring the quality of the docs; it is just a list of those who have attended training. I think other than word of mouth to other parents, you're out of luck. ~Sue who do we send issues to with DAN physicians at ARI? who and how do I contact some one from DAN to report a bad DAN, I can't find anything on their site Recovering from Autism is a marathon NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! Guest guest
ARI and DAN! (the organizations) present training sessions, but not all physicians who attend merit the phrase " DAN! doc " , tho' many of this subgroup advertise their practices as DAN!-oriented. ARI's and DAN!'s position has been that there isn't an official DAN! protocol, tho' some features of evaluation and treatment are common to many docs legitimately labeled as DAN!-oriented, or biomed oriented. But set these caveats aside. A few docs seem to misuse the label " DAN! doc " . I looked around on the ARI website but didn't find an e-contact page. Perhaps the phone number from their url would be helpful. http://www.autism.com/index.htm *1-*
Guest guest
I am an Emeritus (lifelong) member of the Executive Committee of DAN! and would be willing to report a complaint to that committee so they could decide whether any action could or should be taken. I also agree that any parent who feels they have been hurt should just post the facts (explain enough so someone could make an assessment; sometimes there may be mitigating reasons for high charges) on one of the large parent websites to warn other parents. Posts of this sort should not be second-hand, but by the parent/person who was treated unfairly. Dr. JM --- sueswanson@... wrote: > > I had an issue several years ago with a supposed > " DAN!
