I have some funny stuff to share today for some commic relief. my previous ASD

son has been really " getting things " beter this week.

today we had two funny things happen, daddy came home with some tip money and

our son found it and was fanning it out in his hand say wow, I have lots of

money, look mom I'm filthy rich!!

last night my 6 year old mentioned above got a phone call from a girl at school

his face just lite up, he did need some help to keep the conversation going

like, tell her what movie you are watching! ask her what she got for christmas?

did her grandparents come ect. today he was relaying the conversation to my

hubby, it sounded like this

(levi) hayley called me last night

(dad)she did hum

yup

what did you talk about

(blank) levi said nothing

(dad) what did SHE get for christmas?

(levi) a dolly and pajama's, oh and she like rudolf the red nose reigndeer movie

too!

he had this goofy look on his face, mom said you like haley hum!

(levi) yup, she's my girlfriend!

(mom) you mean she is a girl that is a friend or a crush

(levi) just looks puzzeled

(mom) a crush is where you really like someone and you want to be around them

all the time

(levi) and I want to kiss her, he laughs

DAD AND MOM BUST OUT LAUGHING- HE WANTS TO KISS SOMEONE......AND UNDERSTANDS

CRUSH WITH OUT A FULL EXPLINATION. it was a beuatiful moment, but made me

realize he is getting older all at the same time.......yicks, girls already at

6!!

(mom) what about dmaira (we were told just last week THIS was his girlfriend by

his teacher at his IEP meeting)

(levi) yeah I wanna kiss her two

dad and mom again laughing

(mom) levi TWO girl you have crush on?

and emma mom I like her too!!!

he finishes by jumping on the trampoline giggeling to himself

yesterday I came home and levi and dad were wresteling, and levi breaks out to

tell me that while I was gone daddy broke the rules! I asked what he meant and

he said " daddy made bad choices he broke the rules, he needs to go into time out

and have a spanking mom.....then he looks a dad and says, that's it dad go now!!

time out right there for 2 min. trying SOO hard not to laugh I asked WHAT rule

he broke! levi said MINE!! pointing to himself, we again started to laugh and

asked what levi's rules were, so he starts listing off, tickle and wrestel, go

down stairs ect giving me a play scheudual, apparently dad didn't listen to

levi's list of things to do and THAT was what he was trying to tell me, then

later he again said dad made bad choices. when I asked how, he said he ate bad

choice while you were gone.....I asked like what. he said pizza, bread, and

continued to list non diet foods, (WHICH dad is suppose to be working on doing

for himself) son told on him

the sweet thing to share was we got a big snow storm over break and our son went

out and was helping shovel and we live in a 8 appartment complex town house

style with stare walk ways. my son went from house to house clearing them with

the new kids shovel mom had gotten him. one of the guys seeing this thought it

would be sweet to give him 3 dollars, he comes in proud as a peacock, look mom I

had my first job I have money!!! he called and told his grandma ect....3 days

later we are walking at walmart and on our way out there is a salvation army man

ringing the bell, he stops hearing and says look mom a bucket, I said yeah levi

that is where people can give money to help poor kids who need help or can't get

present, he looks at me, puts out his hand and said mom I need one of my

dollars.....having it in my purse with tears I handed him the dollar knowing

what he was going to do with it, he walked over so proud and placed his dollar

in can and told the guy merry christmas eve......he looked at me,we both

smiled.....I put my precious little boy in the car realizing how far he has come

from this last year. las year mom pregant and bed ridden the whole house having

strep levi in PANDAS melt down flinging feses on the celing and making pancake

with it into the carpet ect...drawing on the wall with it ect. no to not have

the label autism and to have developed into a caring contributing american boy

at only age 6 with a crush on a girl. I am so proud of him. this is the first

year he has been able to verbalize what he wants for christmas and has 'gotten "

Christmas. he asked to go see santa which floored us so we did, he was so

excited has his picture taken with him, and told him he wanted a treck attack

which we couldn't figure out what it was, but we searched high and low and

figured it out. he said it was fast and hit walls and flipped

backwards......(he saw it on a commercial after the dora mermaid movie) we

found it and he keep going oh my gosh oh my gosh it's my favoriate toy

EVER,,,,,,,

leading to yesterday. we had a fix it man come to fix our tub, levi was

facinated (told us at one point that he wanted to be one) he pulls his sister

into the hall and says look jazzy this is the fixed man, (sister could care less

and leaves, he is still staring) I said levi this is john, he is fixing the tub.

OHHHH said levi, john gets done, (jasmine shows him what she got for christmas)

levi gabs his hand, Hey fix it guy come see my gift, I got a treck attack and

it's awesome......the fix it man playing along so well said ok....and follows.

he points to it, see it's a treack attack and it does flips and goes room room

(waving his hand from one side of the room to another) OHH says john, levi grabs

his attantion again, it's my favoriate toy ever.....(mom feeling so proud that

we got it for him) john goes to leave, levi leans on the door, hey man, thanks

for fixing the tub john, we appreciate it! happy new years and merry christmas.

it was soooo funny

hope this makes you laugh and smile. never NEVER give up.......this is going to

be a great year for many of you, and you don't even know it yet!!

praying for the best for you all in 2008

Christel, thanks so much for sharing those heartwarming stories. My 7

year old son in recovery is starting to do and say funny things, too. I

think autism moms appreciate the little " normal " things so much because

we were so afraid our child would never do or say such things. I hope I

never lose that feeling of wonder at hearing my son giggle at a joke he

just got, or shout in amazement at the wonderful toys that Santa brought

him. It gives me hope for my 4 year old, who is still quite autistic.
