Guest guest
O I have so much to tell everyone I don't know where to begin. My older CMT son and a friend were arrested Friday night because the Cops in Burbank, California have never seen a vitamin. My son pulled off the freeway to fix a broken part under his car that was dragging. The Police pulled behind him not to help him but to harass him. Drunk test: After 30 minutes of explaining that he can't EVER walk a strait line the cop did a different test. Son passed without a problem. The search: By this time 5 cop cars and 7 or 8 police officers show up to help search his car. One lucky cop found the DRUGS! He came back holding a 3 gallon bag with 4 for 5 citicoline capsules (a dietary supplement that I buy him at the health food store), 1 over the counter asprin, 3 welbutrin (he has a prescription), and 1 Soma that they dug out from somewhere. (The Soma could be an old one from my husband but we really don't know where it came from). The cops did over $500.00 in damage to the car ripping it apart during their search. Sons bail was set at 10,000 possession of narcotics. Felony charge no less. At 1 :30 am we get the phone call that he was arrested at 9 pm. We bail him out before they transfer him to twin towers prison. Our bondsmen was amazing. She worked lightening fast to get him out of that jail, She actually sent a friend of hers that lived closer by to go get him. We got him back home at 6 am Saturday morning. Monday I called the detective myself to find out what was going on and to ask her when we could get his car out of impound. She was very rude to me. She said my son had several different types of pills in his car and that she strongly encouraged us to get an attorney. She mentioned that he was not being truthful to me. (I am thinking well it wouldn't be the first time he has lied to me). Curious and worried I asked her what was in his car?! She mentions the welbutrin and wants his prescription so she can write that part off. (Not a problem). She mentions the 1 soma that they dug up somewhere. I mention the citicoline and explain to her what it is. She said they are sending that to the lab. They think its cocaine in capsule form. The asprin was never brought up. After a while I got to thinking about what she said and how she said it. I asked my son to remember what else was in the car or in the evidence bag. Umm he thinks for a minute VITAMIN C! He had a handful of vitamin C in the hatch back. Sure enough the cops think the vitamin c is exstacy. Mind you at the time of his arrest my son had $1.00 in his pocket, not the means of a big time drug dealer but what ever. Soo I call the detective back and ask her how long the lab results will take to get back on the VITAMIN C! 45 minutes later she released his car out of impound. Before we went down to get the car we dropped by our doctors office to get a copy of my sons current prescription list and recent medical information to show the detective. I was trying to cover all bases just in case they found anything else that she didn't tell me about. Luckily back in September 08 our doctor wrote that my son takes citicoline and vitamin c as therapy for CMT. I was sooo glad to see that! We handed that list over to the mean detective at about 4 pm Monday. Mind you his friend is in jail all this entire time thinking cocaine was planted in the car. Today (Tuesday) the cops drive the friend to the court house to be arraigned . They lead him in the front door then out the back door before he sees the judge. They tell him no charges at this time. I can only assume they are waiting for the toxicology tests to come back in about two weeks. I would really like to see the look on the arresting officers face when they tell him the big drug bust was vitamins. Lessons learned NEVER go to Burbank and always keep your vitamins and medication in the original bottles. Wish us luck!
