Re: Diflucan resistance?

Just through observation, it seem that some who do prescribe anti-fungals do not

presribe them long enough to kill all the mold that colonize's.  I'm curious,

how long did you take them?

I was wondering if someone can tell me what can be done if I have taken Nystatin

and diflucan sporonox in the past for candida. My doctor gave these to me years

ago and now I wonder if there is anything that can work for me?

Can these docs actually test to see what mold a person has and then find out

what is effective against it?

Thanks

Ann

Sometimes I can't remember where I read things but just yesterday reading on

antifungals, read that 'azoles', like fluczanole/Difflucan, spelling?, are

'fungastatins', inhibit fungal growth, don't actually kill it and I don't think

fungus becomes immune, breaks some process down they need to multiply. Can't

swear that they can't become immune. Just learning myself.

I am back to trying the diet. Trying really hard to stay the course. Thinking of

trying the Grape Fruit Seed Extract. Never tried that before. Did Diflican for

about 8 months years ago. Seems like some of us can't get rid of this

yeast/candida. I am tired of it.

I usual took they for about a week sometimes two. My husband and I drove from

Florida 12 years ago to Norwalk Ohio to see a doctor that was in the yeast

connection book (I forget his name) and he prescibed Sporonox just because no

doc in Florida would.

It was so long ago I don't remember. I think I took it two weeks and it did

nothing. It was a wasted trip to Ohio,

The docs name was Dr. Ressenger. Nice man though.

Hi

Can you tell me how much mg's you took of diflucan for 8 months. Did you notice

any difference? If you didn't why did you take it that long?

Thanks

Sorry I just noticed this message. I took the Diflucan for 8 months and I think

it was 200 mg-- but I am not sure. It was in 2001. I did fine with it along with

other medications. I am allergic to candida albicans so I guess that is why I

haven't been able to get rid of it. I was coming along pretty good with the

medication then my health insurance ran out so I stopped taking the medication.

With the diet I got very thin, so I stopped it after a while. Had to check the

liver profile regularly to make sure everything was okay. I will check to see

with my old records if that is the right mg of Diflucan.
