Guest guest
Dr. McCandless, (or anyone who can help) My son has a dental abscess and the dentist has prescribed 7-10 days of oral penicillin. I know that you recommend Bicillin injections instead of oral antibiotics for children with gut issues. Have Bicillin injections been known to work for a dental abscess? Are there any preservatives or other ingredients in the shot to watch out for? I saw that you had posted that the dose of Bicillin is 60,000U under 60 pounds, with up to 3 doses of the bicillin. My son is 34 pounds so he would get the 60,000U dose. How long do you wait after the first shot to see if he needs another? Thank you very much!
