Guest guest
Id watch the temp that it doesn't go above 102 due to risk of triggering seizures with our kids and I'd try tempid baths etc before the motrin. The temp will fight the virus or bacteria -I am just a mom but I usually let them run low grade fever and monitor it closely and give baths etc if it starts to rise.. which it tends to do at night. I'd also try to get fluids at least in. That said, if there was sore throat, I'd definitely get strep test and due to the risks with strep, I personally always treat it with antibiotic in spite of my dislike for them. Others have reported on occasion not having good luck but it has always wiped it out for us. Some use naturals but if you have used OLE, you may consider something different-if you have been on it continuously and she is seeming to be worse as your note sounds, I'd say it is not working unless it is a really long running virus. I'd go to the Ped tomorrow AM personally and get testing done to at least know what you are treating regardless of what treatment plan you choose to use. With strep however, I do find it can come back and even with antibiotic, it usually takes two rounds to get it 100% gone (for instance we on tough cases have gone from test results of +4 to +1 on first round and done second round to eradicate it completely)... I would assume this need to continue treatment might d be case with naturals too and you may have not done it long enough. If I were treating for strep (if that is what it is)I'd go at least 7 days. Just my " mom " opinion though and others may have other thoughts. But bottom line is she sounds as if she is not getting better and I'd go to doctor to see what you are dealing with for sure and then decide how to proceed. We don't play around with Strep... too many risks with it so we generally attack pretty aggressive and for us (not everyone)the antibiotics seem to do the trick. We also ask for injections if there is one that is effective of course but have used Z Pak also with very good results and no problemss (did not use it when on spectrum but do now with some gut issues still and have no problem with it) Good luck!
