Guest guest
Hi Jumpins6, I don't think you're making too much of the 'please remove your shoes' thing. I dread being in that type of situation. I'm very embarrassed of my feet. I haven't worn open-toed shoes or sandals since the 7th grade when a guy stopped me in the hallway to stare and ask a few questions like, 'OMG, what's wrong with your feet?' and 'Why do your toes do that?' As an adult, after getting caught in a couple dreadful situations where I wasn't wearing any socks when being told to take my shoes off, I learned to carry a pair of socks in my purse. Long pants and socks help me avoid the humiliation of people staring at my feet. It can be physically challenging for me too, since frequently there is no chair or stool nearby to sit on. People don't always understand that it's not easy to remove & put on shoes while standing when one has weak legs and balance issues. If you're dressed up, it can be even harder. I don't think you're making a big deal out of it. It's a real issue that can create physical and emotional challenges.
