Guest guest
I am to look at a mobile home (in Tucson) soon. The only concern I have with the house is the 'newer' shingled roof. I thought if it got wet there could be mold eventually if the shingles started lifting, but we have the dry heat here. Due to the pollution here (Phoenix) I have been trying to find a place to rent in NW Tucson but no luck so far, so I may have to buy another older mobile home. I prefer a metal roof, but does anyone know that the shingled roof would be bad for MCSrs? Also, I think I read somewhere granite counter tops are no good for us. What kind of counter tops are best for us. One realtor brushed right over the termite question-- told me I can hire a termite inspector-- like I did not think of that. I fgure that if the owner does not say the status of the mobile home on termites and that there was preventative treatment, then the home was not well-maintained as they advertise. Realtors hiss/groan when I ask the materials from the roof down and lose interest in finding a place for me. I am going to drive down and look for signs that say 'for sale by owner' and if they want to sell their mobile home(s), they will have to tell me about the roof, plumbing, etc. ..........Corky
Guest guest
metal roof might be more of a problem with condensation,? I wouldn't think shingled roofs would cause a problem with MCSers inless your up there close to them. good luck. be problem with countertops might be more due to glues used and offgassing of them if new. > > I am to look at a mobile home (in Tucson) soon. Guest guest
I've gotten a couple estimates to reshingle my house and now they put a liner under shingles so with the right liner, you probably don't have to worry about the shingle content. As people in indoor air quality will probably say, the air from attic, should not be allowed to mix with home anyway. > > I am to look at a mobile home (in Tucson) soon. Guest guest
I was thinking the same thing, Then I remembered what a friend from Az said about summertime being so hot that there would be alot more off-gassing of various things exposed to the high summer temps. I would still think that shingles being on the outside of the home should not be a problem, but is it possible for them, especially if new, to off-gas in the high heat of AZ summers? metal roof might be more of a problem with condensation, ?
