Guest guest
Today was the first day of school on the new campus. The school district used a prison architect not a school builder and this campus is as big as a small state prison. It is also a two story. I have been extremely proactive in explaining the needs of my cmt kids. I even went to the district level with the elevator prescriptions. was at school for a special grand opening the Thursday before school started and she ended up stuck up stairs for a total of 60 minutes. She called security 11 times before they came to turn on the elevator. So the Friday before school started I was in the new Principals office again explaining CMT, elevators, long distance walking etc. So today (first day of school) is stranded up stairs several times without elevator assistance. Adam's teacher took his ID and she went upstairs to get his book. The Principal noticed Adam waiting down stairs and offered to write him a loitering ticket. Principal also told him that his AFOs shouldn't stop him from going up stairs. At the end of the day as Adam was waiting for the elevator security told him he couldn't use it. was stuck upstairs for 30 minutes after going to the library after school. The School District heard it from me several times today. I asked the school nurse to print out temporary passes so the kids can show the idiots some proof. I am worried that in the event of an emergency such as a shooting, earthquake or fire my kids will be forgotten. Thursday I heard well it was a special event, today I heard well it was the first day of school. I am positive I will hear well it was an earthquake, well it was a fire, well it was a holiday, well someone called in sick. This has been a hard day. I keep telling the kids this will get worked out but without a transportation aide I doubt it will.
