Guest guest
We are getting ready to put in some new windows in our older house. We will be using aluminum since it seems to be better for people like me who MCS. We did one part of the house 5 years ago and we made the mistake of putting in vinyls windows. I had a lot of problems with them and had to live in a pop up camper for a long time. I did however ask that they not do anything to the glass. I know that they do things to it to keep it more energy efficient. I am not sure what it is called. low e or something like that? Not sure. I did that because I also have SAD and we do have 3-4 months of overcast in the winter and I wanted some type of rays to come in through the windows. I was not sure if I made the right decision or not. This time my husband and my son do not want me to do that when we order the windows. Does anyone happen to know if these types of windows that are treated have any effect on MCS or even SAD? I do know that the goverment will help you to pay for replacing your windows if they are more energy efficient. I would like to know if anyone can give me an explanation or guide me in helping me to understand what is done to these windows to make them more energy efficient and how would that help me physically. Often times nowadays we make homes or building more energy efficient and more harmful to our health. We have a friend who is a contractor who is ordering these aluminum windows for us (since they are better for people with MCS) and we need to tell him right as soon as possible what type of glass we want on them. Thanks again cathy

Guest guest
---Yes, Thank-you. I do have them and use them as well as a light box. But when I read that the uv light through your window may fade your curtains or couches than I think that it would help me from that point of view. We used to think that the uv light was not good for us but now they are finding out that some of it is good for us and that we have been keeping away from it too much. I do not know if vitamin D is obtained that way or not when you are outside but I just know that I feel good when I sit next to a window when the sun is shining through as compared to a window in a car where it has been treated so that not much light can come through-I do not mean those dark windows that we used to have in Florida because it was so hot. Thanks. Guest guest
--- I put an addition on my home years ago and would not use that type of window because I was told it was some form of gas (sorry I cant remember the name of it) that was put between the panes to make it energy efficient. When I heard " gas " I did want to use them in case of leakage. Hope someone can give you more info.
