Guest guest
Hi Larry, Thanks for the web site, I took a look at it and it sure has lots of information, and from resources I trust. I bookmarked it to read later, I never saw that one before, and I thought I was pretty current about what was available on the net about Lyme disease. Did you happen to see him (I think it was on CNN News) when they had him rebut Larry Dossey's study on prayer and healing? He said that if prayer really did work, then people could also use it to harm us, so he didn't believe in it! I don't listen to anything Barrett has to say, his logic is scary! Dossey's view of prayer includes that very thing: He wrote " Be Careful What You Pray For ... You Just Might Get It " (1998) The reviews? (From amazon.com) Publishers Weekly " Dossey's intelligent and passionate work will bring readers closer to the conviction that their personal interventions into the divine order are effective sometimes too much so. " " Brilliant, poetic, scholarly...The imperative is urgent and clear: we must assume a high level of responsibility for our negative and hurtful thoughts, wishes, and prayers for one another. " Joan Borysenko, Ph.D., author of Minding the Body, Mending the Mind " With penetrating insight and meticulous research, Dr. Dossey revels the power of prayer to harm as well as to help. This book will forever change how you think and what you pray for. " Book Description The surprising, dramatic truth about prayer how it can harm us...and how we can protect ourselves. From the New York Times bestselling author of Healiung Words and Prayer is Good Medicine comes this compelling exploration of the negative side of prayer. Larry Dossey, M.D., offers remarkable evidence that, just as prayer can be used positively to affect health and healing, it can be also be used for negative and destructive purposed. With fascinating true stories, case histories, and scientific analysis, Dossey explores the nature of " toxic " prayer and teaches us how to protect ourselves from its threatening influence. ------------ You might also be interested in knowing that Dossey's view of " prayer " is almost completely opposite the Judeo-Christian (and probably even Muslim) understanding of praying to a transcendent " god. " The prayer studies he cites include things like influencig the growth of bacteria and crystals. Hardly the stuff of healing... but useful trying to shore up belief in telepathy, psychic and " long distance " healing. So tossing Dr. Barrett out because of his *metaphysical* belief system doesn't make sense unless you are on a metaphysical / spiritual list. These questions are about " alternative " medicine and its constant companion, quackery. JAL

Guest guest
nne, Thanks for sharing the website. I have been to the Rest Ministries web site many times. Copen (the author) is quite a woman: she clearly understands the emotional and physical pain of chronic illnesses because she, too, has a chronic illness. There is nothing like " walking in a person's shoes " to gain an understanding. She has also written several Bible studies on coping with chronic illnesses and has directions for starting a Bible study in your own place of worship for those who have chronic illnesses or for congregations who have members who suffer from them. Thanks for sharing this article. (in WY)

Guest guest
I've had lots of problems accessing it, and using the links on the site. I've found that I can usually succeed by typing in on my internet browser address bar each time www.curezone.com (the shortcuts I make seem to quit working after a while for no apparent reason). On the site, there are links that lead to nowhere, then on other parts of the site the links work. Persistence seems to pay off. I have no idea why these problems have occurred. Guest guest
Sharon, The website you are referring to is new and won't be online until June. The URL is www.coconutresearchcenter.org. The purpose of this website is to provide accurate and nonpartisan health information about coconut products. It is not associated with any company nor does it sell any products. I will have sponsored links to companies who want to be listed, but the primary focus of this website is education and not sales. Guest guest
It has far too many many commercials for my taste though - some of the bad rap VCNO gets is because the coconut info site (the first stop on any Google search) is peppered with too much " buy Tropical Traditions " hype so that Shilavy ends up sounding like a snake oil huckster. Well it is a business after all. I agree with you, Jim. Tropical Tradidtions is a good product and it's the one many people start with (myself including), and the site is full of information - yet I felt myself it's too much " buy our product " on the site and whenever I directed people there (for instance on health forums) they invariably complained that it's a commercial site and therefore they can't trust it. That for me is also a problen with dr Mercola's site - it would be more effective if he didn't himself sell coconut oil. It's wonderful that now there's a non-commercial site with all the information collected in one place and explained in non-technical language (as opposed to Enig's rather lengthy articles) where people can get their information. I hope it one day becomes the top Google site - though I suppose that's difficult! I always had the feeling that we in the coconut oil community are " different " - that for us, the health of the planet AND the economic recovery of coconut countries (I think it's a fantastic exchange of goods - sort of divine justice!) would somehow be the first prioroty, and that the business aspect of it while important, would somehow be more of a side effect - important, but not the main motivation. Perhaps its just a pipe dream! I wish companies would work WITH each other instead of AGAINST. That way everyone can profit. There are enough coconuts in the world for everyone, Sharon
