Guest guest
I share the same thoughts too. Both have pluses and minuses. But I can say with reservation that it is agreat thing for us that Clinton did not get the Dems nomination. A negative for McCain is that we are spending $3 billion per week in Iraq, but we are told there is no money for IDEA--shortchanging every student with a disability, and there are peanuts for autism research, and I take very seriously McCain's statements about going to war with Iran seriously, what's that going to cost in dollars and lives. Obama is a lot less of a known quantity. Either way I think we need to put a lot of pressure on both of them to give much more information about what they intend to do about autism and vaccine policy. > > Been pondering for some time now who is the best presidential > candidate for our kids. > > I love that McCain was the first to speak out about the Vaccine- > Autism link. Guest guest
McCain may say -Stop the vaccines and increase epidemic diseases to prevail. _Keep the war on, cut the medicaid funds to minimize domestic spending. -Keep " All children left behind act of BUSH " and deny after HS programs for all disabled, because there will be " NO " funds left for war, if he gave funds for adulthood services. Guest guest
I think we're better off either way, certainly. I have a similar plus/minus view of both candidates with a few of my own little sticking points. After reading Obama's bio by a Chicago Tribune writer, I'm no longer concerned that Obama has no balls. Quite the contrary, I had the impression that he's a ninja. My concerns with him are the unknowns, like when he said that " People want me to be Wellstone, but I'm not Wellstone " . Not sure what he meant and I'd really like to find out. If saying this means he won't get downed in a light plane under suspicious circumstances (funny how Wellstone died a month before the Midnight Rider was slipped into the Homeland Security Bill), well, that's good. But Wellstone was a thorn in pharma's side in a lot of ways and it would concern me that a candidate would distantiate from Wellstone's passion for justice in that sense. On the other hand, maybe this means that Obama won't go so far as to collapse the economy to bring about change, that he'll accomplish things in a stealthier way, which could be positive. We don't need a hip shooter. In fact, I think that if someone REALLY didn't want to accomplish changes for environmentally injured kids, they could come out swinging at Congress, get scoffed at (as expected) and then say, " There, I tried. Can't keep trying! Sorry! " So maybe stealth is in order. One thing's for sure, Pharma's going to fight back dirty. What we might really need is someone who will saw the legs off of pharma's breakfast chair a milimeter at a time until the industry finds its chin on the table and doesn't know how it got there. I have the feeling that we wouldn't all be over-the-moon happy right off the bat with an Obama presidency, just like liberals and black students at Harvard weren't initially completely thrilled with how Obama ran the Harvard Law review, which was to give everyone, even those with conflicting political ideology, a place and a voice. But it's how it works out in the end that also counts. His record of authoring bills and voting doesn't suck. It could matter that the most powerful advisor in his campaign has an adult child who regressed or that his wife's sainted father had a servere degenerative disability, but we'd have to see. McCain made stronger statements about the vaccine-autism link initially. I think his intentions are good and his " evil " statement aimed at pharma was reassuring. No one else was that brazen. But I'm also concerned about how he'd be able to pay for any of these good intentions, and how he'd move Congress to vote for any of it. Also, because of how things like that stupid " Homegrown Terrorism " proposition effect the freedom of speech of movements like ours, I wasn't reassured by McCain's protest of the recent Supreme Court decision to allow due process (or whatever) to some Guantanamo detainees. Not that these people are necessarily victimized saints, but it's kind of the same principle by which he have to bite our tongues and defend the freedom of speech/ civil rights of members of, say, the KKK or some other festering hate group if we want to preserve our own First Amendment rights. > > > I share the same thoughts too. Guest guest
Gosh, I know I shouldn't get involved in these political discussions, but I do have to mention (and someone correct me if I'm wrong)... We still have to have a military, wherever they may be. I'm sure a lot of that 3 billion (obviously, not all of it) would still be spent. But even if the troops all came home tomorrow, the country would not have an additional 3 bil. a week lying around. Guest guest
Yes- but thousands of people would not be dying every year. My son’s dad almost went to Iraq. You think about this when you’re a military family. It’s more than just money. - Gosh, I know I shouldn't get involved in these political discussions, but I do have to mention (and someone correct me if I'm wrong)... Guest guest
See, now this is why I shouldn't get involved in these discussions:- ). I was responding to a post about the monetary cost of the war. I am in NO WAY implying that it's all about the money. Of course, lives are the most important thing. I'm not sure where I stand on the Iraq war because I just don't think there's an easy answer. I'm not a military family, but I think about the cost (in lives way more than money) too. Guest guest
What i've learned through my son's vaccine induced illnes is that it's not a president or a group of congressmen that run this country and it never will be, it's big buisness and the Bilbergers. Americans have been deceived into believing in a system that is ate up with corruption and greed. We've been voting for decades and look at the mess! If folks can't see that God's kingdom (the one that Jesus told us to pray for in the lords prayer) is our only hope i don't know what else to say. This disgusting truth is obvious if we just look at the facts. Their poisoing our food our water our air and their trying to kill us with vaccines. This system of things is soooo messed up that our hope doesn't lie in the hands of a man, the only real hope is God's kingdom. I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses and i placed my vote for Jehovah God and his ruling king Christ Jesus when i was baptised 5 years ago, i never have to vote again. My President doesn't lie, cheat or steal and what he says **always** takes place. He never makes **empty** promises. I would encourage any who whish to live under this type of authority to start a Bible study immediatly. Guest guest
First, I think discussing military spending probably seems less contentious on this list to many because there's such a range of views, but I'm glad that someone from a military family (the horse's mouth) put that out there. I think the lives are the bottom line. And health of our military too, re the forced vaxes. It all begs the question-- if they keep vaxing the kids (and military fathers and mothers to be, and pregnant women, etc.) at the rate they have been, who will be left to ENLIST in twenty years? The one in six boys with LDs today is going to keep rising. Or the kids with asthma, diabetes, obesity, autoimmune disorders, CP or autism? That would be some army. That's what my mother wants to know. > >>> > > > >>> > > Been pondering for some time now who is the best presidential > >>> > > candidate for our kids. > >>> > > > >>> > > I love that McCain was the first to speak out about the > >> > Vaccine- > >>> > > Autism link. Guest guest
I'll record your response as one vote for Jesus. You know Connie you could still vote by writing " Jesus " on the ballot. I might do the same as I'm sure as President he would be able to find Verstraeten's lost data for the CDC. Guest guest
Obama scares the crap out of me. He is so anti-Constitution it is not even funny. A while back there was a man that had his house broken into, keys stolen, etc. The burgler came back a second time and this time the homeowner shot him because he feared for his young children's lives. Despite the fact that the local authorities agreed that the man acted in self-defense, Obama wanted to see the homeowner punished. He is against gun ownership...period. He also belonged to a racist church for over 20 years (then tried to say that he no longer has ties because the pastor is a fruitcake? Like he didn't realize that over the course of 20 years?) He is also pro-abortion - of course, we need these body parts to make vaccines! He states that he is a Christian despite his radical Muslim background. He used the Koran to swear into office instead of the Bible. I could go on and on about this man....just take a long hard look at his beloved artwork (Communist) and voting record! McCain on the other hand....I don't know. Who can we trust these days? I thought that Bush was so great which was why I voted for him and look what he has done with vaccines, the Patriot Act, and the war! Who will be the bigger puppet for Big Pharma - McCain or Obama? I don't know. I guess that is why God tells us to pray for our leaders. > > > > What i've learned through my son's vaccine induced illnes is that > > it's not a president or a group of congressmen that run this > country > > and it never will be, it's big buisness and the Bilbergers. > Americans > > have been deceived into believing in a system that is ate up with > > corruption and greed. I don't think so!My biggest fear? Obama gets hurt, or worse,(by some redneck somewhere) and King uses that to implement marshal law (race riots ensue) and then King stays on the throne! Guest guest
That’s why I think the smartest thing Obama can do is have Hillary as VP. The only thing racist people (men) dislike as much as a black president is a female president. It would help his survival. On another note- I think it’s great he was sworn in by the Koran (if that is even true). Our country needs to learn to respect people from ALL religions (aka the world). I’m also anti-gun, pro-choice and changed religions as an adult. When making OT comments about politics you have to understand that not everyone on this list thinks like you and you should TRY to be a little respectful of people’s different opinions (speaking to Dawn). I DO NOT want to get into a whole debate about this stuff. But to me, a piece of lint would be better than the last guy you voted for. It’s bad enough that I have to stop myself from commenting every time someone mentions the bible or their version of God. I think you can state what you believe without name calling and making people feel bad for what they believe in. - Well, if we are speaking bible....how can you trust a man whose name is Mc " Cain " ??? Guest guest
I am not putting anyone down. I just don't like the fact that Obama states he is a Christian when his actions tell a different story. It is about being honest. We have lost that concept with many politicians. I am very pro-Constitution. Many of our ancestors went to battle to fight for our freedom and many have forgotten that. They fought and died so that we may have the right to bear arms, have the right to privacy, have the right to practice whatever religion we choose to, but most important of all - live FREE. More and more of our rights are taken away and not too many people realize that. With forced vaccination and Obama in office - maybe then people will start to wake up and see what is really happening to our country. The Constitution will just be a thing of the past. > > > > > > What i've learned through my son's vaccine induced illnes is that > > > it's not a president or a group of congressmen that run this > > country > > > and it never will be, it's big buisness and the Bilbergers. > > Americans > > > have been deceived into believing in a system that is ate up with > > > corruption and greed. Guest guest
JMO- but you used the terms “pro-abortion” and “radical Muslim”. That is putting people down. Also--- You should really check your facts before spreading rumors: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/238/ When Obama was sworn into office, " he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Kuran (Their equivalency to our Bible, but very different beliefs). " Obama sworn in on his Bible An anonymous e-mail says Barack Obama took the oath of office for the U.S. Senate on a Koran, the holy book of Islam. We thought it would be odd if that were true, since Obama is a Christian. In fact, it is wrong. The e-mail also spells the book's name " Kuran, " though usually it is spelled Koran or Quran. Two press reports from Obama's swearing-in ceremony in January 2005 mention specifically that Obama took the oath of office by placing his hand on his own copy of the Bible. The Barack Obama campaign also confirmed that it was a Bible and that the book belonged to Obama. Vice President Dick Cheney, in his role as president of the Senate, administered the oath. After being raised outside of any particular faith tradition, Obama became a Christian in his mid 20s and is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. (Obama gave what are arguably his most extended remarks on his faith at the " Call to Renewal " religious conference in 2006; read the speech here.) We suspect this false claim was inspired by the 2007 swearing-in of Rep. Ellison, D-Minn., an American convert to Islam and the first Muslim elected to Congress. Ellison used a Koran that once belonged to Jefferson, borrowing the rare book from the Library of Congress. It goes without saying that Ellison is not Obama. And with its intent to inflame, we find the e-mail's allegation not only false, but Pants-on-Fire wrong. ALSO— if you read Barack’s website- it says here: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/additional/Obama_FactSheet_Western_Sportsmen.pdf PROTECTING GUN RIGHTS Respect the Second Amendment: Millions of hunters own and use guns each year. Millions more participate in a variety of shooting sports such as sporting clays, skeet, target and trap shooting that may not necessarily involve hunting. As a former constitutional law professor, Barack Obama believes the Second Amendment creates an individual right, and he greatly respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms. He will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns for the purposes of hunting and target shooting. He also believes that the right is subject to reasonable and commonsense regulation. You are so concerned about politicians being honest and yet you are distributing lies/misconceptions/etc. about a man running for president. Please go to Barack’s website- and McCain for that matter and look and what these men say officially on the issues. And while you are at it- here is the page on Disabilities--- http://www.barackobama.com/issues/disabilities/ - I am not putting anyone down. Guest guest
I could not agree more. My husband and I have been saying the very same thing. I am not sure he (Obama)is thinking like that though. I don't agree with much of what he is about (really don't like either one of them)...however, I would really hate to see anything happen to him. Not only for his sake, but all our sakes.I think we can all agree that it is time to pull the US out of the crap hole!As for tolerance of others....well, I believe the only way to win people to God, and get them to genuinely listen to ones point of view, is to love them right were they are at. We are all doing the best we can (hopefully). I am not saying that he is a radical Muslim, but we do have do wonder what type of impression his parents left on him. As far as his claim that he is pro-gun - that is a lie. I saw his voting record. Not trying to debate. Just trying to clear up some misconceptions. -- In EOHarm , Debbie Graves wrote: > > I could not agree more. My husband and I have been saying the very same thing. I am not sure he (Obama)is thinking like that though. I don't agree with much of what he is about (really don't like either one of them)...however, I would really hate to see anything happen to him. Not only for his sake, but all our sakes. > I think we can all agree that it is time to pull the US out of the crap hole! > > As for tolerance of others....well, I believe the only way to win people to God, and get them to genuinely listen to ones point of view, is to love them right were they are at. We are all doing the best we can (hopefully). Guest guest
Yes, Its the OIL and .always has been!!! Re: Re: Who would you vote for President if the vote was held today and why? Yes- but thousands of people would not be dying every year. My son’s dad almost went to Iraq. You think about this when you’re a military family. It’s more than just money.-On 6/15/08 3:07 PM, "sam_hsmom" <sallyannmillertampabay (DOT) rr.com> wrote: Gosh, I know I shouldn't get involved in these political discussions, but I do have to mention (and someone correct me if I'm wrong)...We still have to have a military, wherever they may be. I'm sure a lot of that 3 billion (obviously, not all of it) would still be spent. But even if the troops all came home tomorrow, the country would not have an additional 3 bil. a week lying around.Sally> >> > Been pondering for some time now who is the best presidential > > candidate for our kids.> > > > I love that McCain was the first to speak out about the > Vaccine-> > Autism link.
