Guest guest
Yep, it's the vaccines. Just ask my son who got the double whammy -- autism AND diabetes. :-( Funny, I belong on a yahoo group of about 1,000 folks with type-1 diabetic children . . . I am one of only TWO people who think (er, know) it is vaccine-induced. The other families are adamantly against this notion and think I'm a nutjob. -BJ (who ordered the lime green meter for him)Vote for your city's best dining and nightlife. City's Best 2008. Guest guest
It's pink! " There's no reason why my life can't be perfectly normal. " This is an ad for a One Touch glucose meter. Then the pretty child says, " I test my blood before I eat. I test my blood before I exercise.... " What the heck is happening to our kids! Guest guest
I'm not trying to imply that diabetes in kids is vaccine related as I don't know enough about that. I wouldn't be surprised though. I'm appalled at how the ads portray diabetes as an easy disease to manange - the adult ad shows a man who's a baseball coach I think, " I'm staying in the game! " The Viagra-dickety-wickety-lickety-splickety pill ads I get, show the happy, giddy men strumming their banjos a la deliverance.... But the diabetes ads I think should be more serious in nature, to reflect how serious it is to control your blood sugar. And I don't mind if a child has a pink meter - I can't imagine how tough it would be to be a kid and have to monitor blood levels all day. Give the child a Hello Kitty meter if it helps her fit in better at school. I watched my Dad have TWO diabetes seizures two weeks ago - a fine ending to my girls' First Communion celebration. There was nothing, and I mean NOTHING fun, happy or smiling about the loss of body/bladder/bowel control, the screaming, the thrashing, the inability to reach him and the TWO visits from 911 in the middle of the night. Guest guest
Yes there is. Her name is " Splenda . " My DAd is 85 and bounced back, God bless him. Once that sugar gets back into your body (his was too low due to illness and taking his meds on top of it, thus his blood sugar plummeted to 35) it's amazing how fast you return to lucidity. Thank you. K > > Have they come out with a diabetic doll yet?
Guest guest
Too funny... I'm the other nutjob on that list BJ It's you and I against the world over there, huh? If you bring up the vaccine question, you are an immediate freak. After 5 years, I've almost given up with that group in terms of even discussing the issue. Too many closed minds and not enough people who care to even look at the information. I do get nauseous every fall though as the push for the flu vaccines is in full swing ... Because we all know that all children with type 1 diabetes NEED to get a flu shot every year (vomit). > > Yep, it's the vaccines.
