OtT evaluation

Hi

My son went for an OT eval today on the recommendation of the physiatrist and

our concerns with muscle weakness in his hands. We decided to go to a private OT

rather than wait three months for the childrens hospital evaluation. Well we

will not get the report for three weeks but he did tell us something that just

blows my mind. It really isn't CMT related but answers a lot of questions. My

son is actually left handed. He was taught from kindergarten to use his right

hand and he was always a very sloppy writer and his hand got tired easily.

Well, no wonder he should be left handed. Didn't things like this stop

happening 30 years ago? Who have thought in this day and age they would break

him into a righty.

Well, they tell me it is too late for him to change back but he will do things

with his left hand, just not write. Did I say I am blown away? They kid has

enough issues without this also. So now I am going to make a case to the school

to give him OT as the therapists really feels he would benefit but at $125 a

week it is not affordable to us unless the school takes care of it.
