We recently flew on American - usually do many times a year, with our

son. The flight attendants

are either over worked, don't care, don't have any training , sense

or consideration. I am pretty

disappointed with them as well.

Its so difficult to travel now by air. All the airport security who

ha; - Its hot, the planes are hot, no extra

goodies can be taken on the plane. They limit you on your bags or get

charged for each bag. No pillows anymore as well. So you have to make

do or carry your own.

We traveled this summer and as usual our son got singled out - to be

totally searched. I stood

by the TSA the entire time, and told TSA our son is autistic and I

was not letting him

go with them without me standing right there. So they searched me as

well.

I know they have a job to do, but the system as it is stinks!

Traveling by air has gotten to be such a dread.

We need our own EOH plane for family travels!!

The brat deserved a smack down! And the Mom should have her butt kicked

for making all the other paying passengers deal with this whacked out

ankle biter.

Oh the sensitivity is overwhelming. Really overwhelming.

I would say the discussions about autism and children with autism I

have seen by those who appear completely ignorant to the autism that

many of us know it to be- seem to fit in nicely with these comments.

Our children deserve to be beaten because they are plain and simply

brats. And since the government is giving the impression that our

children are genetic mistakes/screw ups- because even a bird brain

such as this idiot, knows autism is purely genetic... We apparently

chose to have these monsterous kids so we snf our f*cked up genes

are to blame. We should kick their asses and our asses should be

kicked for having them.

What a future our poor children have in store for them with such

lovely compassionate people out there....

I took AMTRAK from CT to the Rally in DC. What a joy! The train station

is 4 miles from my house. I left the house 25 minutes before my

departure time. To fly I'd have had to have allowed 3 hours to get to

LaGuardia and get through security. I boarded the train, feeling like

I was is an old movie. I sat in a comfy, spacious seat and listened to

my Sirius Stiletto. Then I walked several cars down for a snack. What

fun going between cars as we flew down the tracks! We arrived in

beautiful Union Station where my brother's partner was waiting out

front for me, with no hassles. When I left DC, all of the flights

were delayed due to the heavy thunderstorms. Not my train! We chugged

right out of the station. If you're on the East Coast, bag the

planes. Take Amtrak!

I've been bracing for us to be thrown off planes all along.

Breggin wrote about a study in one of his books which concluded

that attitudes towards children with disabilities are the LEAST

humane when a child is considered to have a " genetic mental illness "

and the most humane when a child is regarded as simply sick or unwell.

The interesting part of this is that there is no such thing

as " genetic mental illness " , so what ignorant teachers, doctors,

shrinks and bystanders are responding so negatively and punitively to

is actually a myth, akin to voodoo. Loren Mosher, the former head of

the NIMH prior to the drug company take-over of the agency, reviewed

all the agency studies on schizophrenia and said simply, " It's

environmental " . But after he left, the agency twisted the study

conclusions and cherry picked others skewed to support genetic cause.

Buried in some psychiatric or neurological journal from 1993 is a

study review by the NIMH recanting the gene cause position, but the

media never reported on it.

Let's not forget, that if one has to travel with kids, they may also enjoy the train ride. Our youngest son behaved admirably while on trains, but was prone to meltdowns when he had to get off and realized the ride was over. Aasa krstagliano wrote: I took AMTRAK from CT to the Rally in DC.
