The Family Wellness Program provides non-residential counseling and advocacy services for families affected by domestic violence at Children¢s Aid Society sites in Manhattan and the Bronx. We are seeking a full-time MSW, Registered Art Therapist, or equivalent, to serve as a children¢s therapist. This person will be responsible for providing individual, family and group therapy to children who have been exposed to domestic violence. S/he will work concurrently with parents, foster parents, and/or other service providers to help them understand the emotional and behavioral impact of the domestic violence on the child, and how they can provide support for the child to heal from the effects of the exposure to domestic violence. The children¢s therapist will be responsible for ongoing development of children¢s group curriculum, detailed tracking and reporting of services, and advocating as needed within the child welfare and domestic violence service systems. Some public speaking/training may also be required. This person will be based in our midtown Manhattan office, but will travel to our Bronx offices twice a week, or as needed, and to other CAS sites city-wide for assessments and consultations. Masters degree in social work, art therapy, or related field and experience providing clinical services to children is required. Experience and training in domestic violence and bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience, and a competitive benefits package is offered.
