Guest guest
Yes, I had these done on both feet at the same time one summer long agoas a child. I was in casts up to my knees for about six weeks I think. The first three were non-weight bearing (had to stay in bed) the last three I had walking casts. I don't remember the pain, or if I had any, but for about the first 5 days after surgery, my mother placed ice packs on my toes. Walking once the casts came off hurt some, but dissipated with time, as my 'new feet' learned how to walk. The Physical Therapy after was crucial to the good surgical outcome, especially the walking in sand, swimming too. This is the only CMT surgery I've needed. You might want to browse through our Archives for past posts on the subject of foot surgery, etc. Gretchen
Guest guest
Depending on why your back hurts and how much damage has been done to back - I have been helped by a number of therapies. please search my name on site. I have no " fixed contractures in my feet " but bilateral foot drop and gait compensations and I am healthy. I strongly believe in Dr at Univ of North TX @ fort worth for Low Back and SI and hips This is a teaching clinic and great on backs. This used in combo with Prolotherapy has been wonderfully restoring!
Guest guest
I had the right foot done in 7/95 and the left one done in 5/96. The right one still serves me well now. The left one I've had problems with and had it redone in 1999 and 2003. Since I had them done one at a time the incapacity wasn't too bad. I couldn't drive for approx. 4 1/2 months after having surgery on my right foot. The pain was pretty bad for the first week or two. After that, I was able to work (driving myself - watch the pain meds) fairly normally. I was on crutches for all surgeries for approx. 3 months or so. Physical therapy is good... I would recommend (as soon as your doctor okays it) walking in a swimming pool. Would I do it again? Absolutely. If you have other questions, just ask. T.
