I wish there was a website to direct folks to the details of all of the shitty things AS has done to our community . . . every time I get a notice of a pending " walk " for autism from an online acquaintance, I try to politely reply as to why they should take a good hard look at the organization they are pounding the pavement for. But I am not eloquent enough, nor do I have all of my facts straight. Usually my email is met with hard feelings. Speaking of AS walks . . . isn't there one coming up on July 10th in Pennsylvania (Philly?)? Wonder how much money they'll soak out of the local community. Too bad a contingent of folks can't show up wearing anti-AS shirts, signs and perhaps flyers explaining our position. -BJ in DE

Guest guest
Uhm, they sued a 14 year old kid for making a parody of their website. You think they'd let a website that tells the truth go without litigation? Guest guest
getting the jist of the insurance situation... I think the insurance companies think it will COST them instead of being a MONEY MAKING insurance.. The deal is they want to profit, if 1 of every 150 kids is hurt by autism, how can THEY MAKE any MONEY must be the bottom line, it gets back to Nationalized funding of the pharma- peds ball of wax (damaged kids). Who ya gonna call??? ng Re: Can I just tell you what Autism Speaks has done here in PA? Lenny,Please ask them, because all of us are heartbroken and at a loss forwords. They are spinning their rhetoric. We thought during the last hours of compromise they would come throughfor us -- BUT INSTEAD THEY SIDED WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANIES.What does this tell you?> >> Recently, a leader of Autism Speaks> indicated his desire to cause the "sense of a wave" in the states> toward a larger National agenda.[...] In other words, an insurance> bill is being prepared for passage that lacks any concrete assurance> that it will actually help Pennsylvanians with autism and theirfamilies. > >> > If true, this would be consistent with the way AS operates> politically. Guest guest
I'll be glad to contribute my 2 cents! It doesn't have to be elaborate, just be sure to include links to back up what is posted. > > > > > > They scared a 14 year old (who IMO's parents did not do enough for > > that child's rights, but that is another topic) but did they actually > > sue? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > http://www.aspiesfo rfreedom. com/showthread. php?tid=11706 is the link > > to a thread where the 14-year-old discusses the outcome. > > > > Not sure I quite understand -- apparently now AS owns the domain/site? > > > > -BJ > > > > > Primer who lives in Oceansidebut is in CarlsbadUnifiedSchool District > ~All truth passes through three stages. Guest guest
I was out of town and came back to see the entire 1150 bill in shambles! And I thought the lack of a state budget was the issue. The AS bombshell is disturbing. INterestingly, O'Brien was a staunch AS supporter - his office even sent me an AS pin (which I laughed at) - guese he'll learn their true colors ... As usual our kids continue to suffer. Diane (in PA) > > > > FORGIVE ME..HOW DID AUTISM SPEAKS GET INTO THIS ANYWAY? Lia > > > > > > > > **************Gas prices getting you down? Guest guest
A few of us months ago hounded the Speaker in an effort to educate him on AS and even gave him Kirby's book -- maybe now he'll realize we weren't the crazy ones. Guest guest
I said the same thing to him. We all had a big to-do about it. I won't say I told you so.... not now. But the thought has crossed my mind. He thought was he was doing a good thing. You can't blame him. I'm not in HGB, but in constant contact. They need me womaning the computer. We need people in Pileggi and Scarnati's district. Can you help with that? > > A few of us months ago hounded the Speaker in an effort to educate > him on AS and even gave him Kirby's book -- maybe now he'll realize > we weren't the crazy ones. > > Are you in burg today? > > > > > > > > > > > >
