Guest guest
Hi. I live in Michigan and I don't seem to see much of a difference with my issues as the seasons change. Sometimes in the winter I may be a little bit more sensitive to the cold than usual but nothing drastic. I honestly think it just depends on the person and how they actually adapt to things. Sunshine From: huioliu <@...> Subject: Is it OK to live in cold area, e.g., Michigan, with CMT? Date: Sunday, September 13, 2009, 9:56 PM Hello, I sweat a lot. So, I feel that I don't like to live in hot areas. How about living in cold areas, e.g.,Michgan? Might it cause any harm or more progression if I live in a cold area with long snow and winter season? Might it become more likely to have depression if I live in a cold area with long snow and winter season? I guess I will not sweat so much in cold areas. Thank you very much for your kind suggestions. Caroline
Guest guest
Caroline, Many people with CMT have difficulties with cold weather, and especially cold wet weather. Living in a cold climate can be a stress on the CMT body. I've lived in many cold areas - from the East Coast to Texas, to Oklahoma, to Wyoming. I enjoyed the cold in Wyoming because it was a dry cold, although it lasted much longer than ordinary winters, even snowing on theh 4th of July. I mean Wyoming was well below 0 farenheight many days. However the sun was bright and for walks I needed to be dressed in layers - a down coat and good boots. I peeled layers off when I got to work. What I didn't like so much was shoveling snow, and even dressed in layers I would work up a sweat. Just be prepared for the cold, clothing, hats, boots, gloves, etc. also for delays at airports, and road closures. I never had problems with cold climates and depression.
