Guest guest
The desert climates are supposed to help because they are so dry and have low humidity. Many years ago, doctors used to tell patients with asthma to move to the desert southwest. However, there is a chance you could be exposed to valley fever in the desert southwest. It's caused by fungi in the soil. There will always be a variety of factors to evaluate---low or high humidity, heavy snow fall or heavy rains, family, etc. You have to weigh the pros and cons and decide which is best for you. ________________________________ From: dianebolton52 <dianebolton@...> Sent: Thursday, June 11, 2009 11:33:59 AM Subject: [] Re: Where ??? --- The clinic I was treated at recommends Arizona or New Mexico for low humdity. Guest guest
Mayleen, This is not Diane. But I have some mcs and mold sensitive friends who live in the following towns in AZ and love it there and moved there from less helpful climes: Athem, Casa Grande and San Pedro. I've only visited there many years ago. So am no authority at all. I can share some random tips that these friends have shared. Please, take it with a grain of salt as this feedback is second hand. Any list members who find this info incomplete or incorrect, please jump in. They are from memory. Some recommmendations, things to avoid or take into consideration. Check in with allergists and mold/mcs physicians (like Dr. Gray) who practice out that way. Watch for the regions that have issues with " Valley Fever " . I think it is in areas around Phoenix? Had one friend and one doctor who were both sick the whole time they stayed in that area. But we do know a non-mcs and mold exposed family who so far are fine out there. Dust is a big thing to avoid being out in during the windy times. Don't live in areas where there is alot of construction. There are some ancient mold issues in the outdoors when dust is kicked up as the whole region was under water in prehistoric times and those molds still exist in the soil. Cactus is the main allergen that can bloom in the spring. Northern Az supposodly has higher elevations and thereby less likely to have mold issues. Buildings with poorly installed or kept hvac systems can be awful with mold as well as old buildings. My friends have a list of places they have to avoid in their local towns and elsewhere. High heat in the summer can create off-gassing of building materials. One friend of a friend has a 5 year old home that will bother her in the summer. Don't know New Mexico even second hand except for a friend who lived there in the seventies. She did get sick there and her dog got cancer. She suspected that she might have been too close to where the nuclear testing was. Hope this is helpful. Please anyone amplify and correct me, if needed. I am quoting from memory and am not the sharpes tool in the shed, lol. Sam From: dragonflymcs <dragonflymcs@...> Thank you for responding, can you tell me what area they moved to ? Guest guest
-The desert of South west NewMexico was my destination when every Dr told me I would die if I stayed in moldy VA. Land is cheap ,and you can get away from people, they do not have the same problem with Valley fever(fungus) that they have in Arizona and California. They have socilized medical insurance, which has been a real boon to me. Also a great Dr-Dr Burton Berkson, who has great alternative treatments. Goole him-one of a kind. > > > > > > > > Hello All, > > > > > > I need to move and would like to know where do most people with mold illness move to (what state) What State ?? Region ???
