WSJ Closing Bureau That Pioneered Medical Conflict-of-Interest Reporting

Boston is the epicenter of the nation's medical " thought " complex, and over

the years the Wall Street Journal bureau in that city has generated many

of the cutting-edge stories on conflicts of interest in medicine. But

journalism

bulletin board website published by the non-profit Poynter Institute,

reports today that the Rupert Murdoch-owned paper will be closing its Boston

bureau and inviting its reporters to bid on other jobs at the paper. What this

portends for coverage of conflicts of interest in medicine remains to be

seen.
