Greetings Everyone:I am a second year CAT grad student at Pratt. I am currently working on my thesis, and I am looking for research participants. My subject is how self-portraiture is used by women negotiating midlife crisis/transition.I am looking for women artists and/or creative arts therapists who have been through their own version of a midlife crisis. Specifically, my participants in my research study will be interviewed, and asked to either create a self-portrait dealing with this theme, or to contribute a pre-existing, relevant self-portrait. The self-portrait can take any form. Please contact me if you meet this criteria, and/or if you know of someone you can recommend.Thank you so much.Jane Zweibel, MFA, MPS Candidatewww.janezweibel.comjane.zweibel@...

Hi Jane,

I am a nearly retired OT/AT just about over the crisis, living now in Maine and specializing in my private practice in functional/cognitive assessments. Connected to a group of professionals (all artists themselves) and wondering if we might be helpful. Please let me know more about the details.

Hi Thank you for your response. My research study for my thesis on self-portraiture and women experiencing midlife crisis will be in 2 parts. Each participant will be interviewed (either by phone, in person, or via email), and will then be asked to either create a self-portrait (totally open to interpretation) related to her midlife experience, or to contribute a pre-existing self-portrait that relates to the theme. I am just waiting for the green light for my proposal to be approved by my school's institutional review board. Would you be interested in being a participant? Also, if there is anyone else you know, as you mentioned, who might be interested, that would be great. My proposal will probably be accepted by January, and I will begin the process with all of my participants then.Let me know if you are interested, and/or need more details, etc. Thanks so much.JanePS. FYI, the subject for my thesis came out of my own personal experience using my self-portraits to help me through my own midlife crisis. Nov 17, 2008 07:00:56 AM, NYCCAT wrote:
